Chaskana Guesthouse is located in the rural community of Sencca, overlooking the city of Cusco and Sacsayhuaman archaelogical site (15 minutes in car from the Plaza de Armas of Cusco). The Guesthouse has views of Salkantay mountain to the west, and Ausangate mountain to the east, (and Cusco city), making for spectacular sunrise and sunsets and night light vistas. Sencca is on the way to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu, and 10 minutes to the Poroy train station where trains to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) depart. Chaskana Guesthouse provides a comfortable and enjoyable stay for those wishing to get out of the city and interact with local people, without being far away from city conveniences.
The guesthouse is rented out in full so you will have access to all rooms including a sunroom, garden/lawn area and an external laundry. There is parking available at no extra charge. There are a couple of other homes on the property but you will have a private sunroom and lawn/garden area.
Interaction with guests
We can assist with organising tours during your stay and will make sure you are familiar with the house and the town on your first day.
Sencca is located overlooking the city of Cusco, there are many corner stores in the community where you can buy everything from bread to toothbrushes to beer. On Sundays, the locals play soccer and spend time with friends and family. During the week you will see the kids heading off to school and families taking their animals out to pasture.
Sencca is on the way to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu, and close to the Poroy train station where trains to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) depart. Parking is available on site and taxis are a 15-20 minute drive to the centre of Cusco, otherwise you can catch local transport to Arco Tica Tica and walk a km to the guesthouse during your stay.
Other things to note
The guesthouse is located above Cusco, so it is at an altitude of 3600 metres above sea level. As you are staying in a rural area you may hear dogs, donkeys and other animals during your stay.
We don't mind if you want to spend all your time with the locals or locked away enjoying the peace, but we do ask that you treat our place with respect, as if it were your own - except we do the tidying up when you check-out!
