The house is conveniently located close to both Redwood National Park and Prairie Creek State Park. The main attractions are no more than 30 minutes away. There are a general store and restaurants within walking distance. The house has a nice, homey feel to it. It's very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is well stocked with the usual amenities except that it does not have a dishwasher.

Amazing stay for 2 nights on a trip to the Redwoods. Location is perfect, just a short drive either direction to hiking & beaches. We also did a horseback tour which was just a couple miles away from the house. The house is huge, very comfortable and clean and the kitchen is well stocked! The hosts have not forgotten any detail, down to laundry soap and dryer sheets. Our kids appreciated the movie selection, too. The noise from 101 is audible, but did not bother any of us and we all slept well. Would definitely stay here again!

The house was very clean and thought out. Kristina was very helpful and easy to reach. Location was great. Close to Redwoods and lagoons where we kayaked. We also hiked, mountain biked and saw elk three times. Kitchen well equipped.

When we started planning our trip to the Redwoods I knew that if at all possible I wanted to stay in Orick because of its close proximity to the activities/trails we were hoping to do while in the Redwoods. I was honestly a little worried about booking this place because there were only 4 reviews and 1 of them was negative. But, staying here best suited all of our needs and it looked so clean and pretty I thought I would give it a try. I am SO glad that I did! The house is clean, updated, and beautifully decorated. It is actually more spacious than I expected it to be. With plenty of seating for dining and lounging. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pot, pans and both eating and cooking utensils. We also took ample opportunities to use the BBQ on the deck outside. I can't personally speak for the Queen bed, but the King bed was so comfy and our 5 year old thought it was so cool to sleep on the roll-away bed. Kristina was prompt in confirming our reservation and in reassuring us that there was enough room for our tribe of 5. We also had contact with the House Manager, Donna - who we spoke to about an issue with a fire alarm battery running low. At all times they were both kind and helpful. Without hesitation, I would stay here again and again!

We loved everything about Redwoods Cottage! Clean, lots of space, cozy, comfortable bedding, lush towels, well appointed kitchen, & laundry! A+ Be sure to stop at the Snack Shack for a burger. If you're lucky you'll meet lifetime locals Jim & Joe who will share he eat stories about Orick. Also stop at Betty's Orick Market & Gas - take a few minutes to look at all her amazing flowers and grab a freshly made sandwich before heading into the park. The old growth trees will blow you away! Can't wait to visit again!

At first, it was great. But when the communication breakdown occurred, from an error in their system, it was like we were criminals taking advantage of them. I wasn't happy about how they handled the relationship. We were there as support to the local Wildfire, and the hosts treated us fairly poorly, almost threatening. I worked to resolve the situation asap, but they didn't seem happy. What happened was we had requested to book through a certain set of dates. They said that wouldn't work, but when we got our booking email, it had the dates we requested approved. So we thought, great, even better. On one of the last days, they came to clean, and sent a fairly rude email about how we were screwing them, and would be reported. I communicated right away and forwarded them the email that had the other dates on it. But they didn't communicate back other then reporting us to AirBnB about being bad renters. Not to stocked on the experience, considering every other experience we have had with Air BnB has been great.

Response from Kristina:
I agree with Sam that there was a lack of communication. He rented my unit through AirBnb for 3 nights. when he had not checked out i became concerned, asked him to call through an email, which he did not call, then sent another email through Airbnb that night. After the 4th night, I went down to the house and was able to talk to some of Sam's guests and told them i had other guests coming into the house. Thankfully they did not realize the problem and they did pack up and leave, Sam had already left the property that day or the day before. We've been renting the cottage as a vacation house for 3 years and have never had a guest stay beyond their reservation. Sam had great reviews on Airbnb and I did not expect to have any problem with him. The house was left just as his group found it.
