Brigitte's Mazot in Chamonix is a cosy little chalet, with a stunning view of Mont Blanc. Situated in the area of Les Moussoux, it is an easy stroll in to Chamonix yet you can sit on a delightful south-facing balcony in peace and enjoy the mountains.
In winter you can walk up to the main Chamonix lift (10 mins in ski boots) for skiing on the Brévent, or take the ski bus from here to the other ski areas.
In summer there are some amazing hikes straight from this small chalet to the Brévent.

The space

The mazot is made up of a cosy studio room with a comfortable double bed, a well equipped kitchen (with fridge and hob) and a bathroom. Fresh sheets and towels are provided. There is also off street parking available if you have a car.

For certain peak weeks the minimum stay is normally 7 nights. There is a 25% discount for week long bookings.

Interaction with guests

The local Collineige representative will meet you on arrival and show you in. You can contact her by phone or text during your your stay.

Other things to note

The mazot is situated in a large garden behind Chalet les Mazots - so called because of the 2 little mazots (this one and Stephen's Mazot), which in times past were used to store valuables.

Nice little place with great view of the Mont Blanc. Shower room is really small.

Brigitte's mazot is wonderful. Cozy but well equipped, it's just perfect for a solo traveller like myself. The view of the mountains is the most amazing way to wake up in the morning and it's a short <10 minute walk to the city center. I would definitely recommend this for an individual or a couple on a romantic getaway to this beautiful area.

The accommodation was very quaint, comfortable, and clean. While it feels like you're nestled in a remote hut in the alps, you are a five minute walk to the center of town. Will definitely be re-booking!

The tiny-house movement has made it to the Alps! I loved this thoughtfully-designed, minimal-footprint cabin on the outskirt of Cham. It's also within walking distance of the cable car and beautiful hiking paths in the opposite direction. Great for couples and hermits.

Beautifully situated cabin, verandah facing Mont Blanc, and perfectly sized for two people, including enough space for ski kit. Generous provision of coffee, olive oil, pasta etc much appreciated, even though not scoffed.

Beautiful private, cozy and rustic little mazot in a perfect location in Chamonix. Everything as described. Complete little kitchen. There was coffee, tea, rice, dry pasta and cooking essentials ready for me when I arrived. Clean, warm and with a very hot shower. L' Occitan products in the bathroom. I loved it. Will be back in summer.

The Mazot is really cozy and waking up with the view on Mont Blanc is wonderful! The house is small but has everything: a kitchen, a bathroom, and a terrace with a table. Having this in mind, it is not the best alternative for everyone so book carefully. Tall people will hit their head everywhere and during rainy days, where you cannot stay outside, you loose your dining room. Another issue the WiFi. You can connect only in the garden and in the terrace, a big problem when it is raining, or you want to check mails and plan for the day inside. Kirtseen, our reference person at the arrival, is full of suggestions about hikes, restaurants, doctor and so on. She speaks English (not common in France) and she is always available. Thank you again Kirsteen! Unfortunately, we had a serious communication problem with Barbara (her manager and the person who respond to our Airbnb request) before the check in. She said she was sending us all the information about the Matzot, including the contact of our reference, two months before the arrival. We are still waiting for the message. All in all, I suggest the Mazot for its position in Chamonix and the stunning view in front of Mont Blanc!

Response from Collineige:
We are really sorry Carolina didn't receive our emails and we still don't really understand why as this hasn't happened before. The AirBnb booking system is fantastic and usually works really well so this problem is a surprise to us. AirBnb don't provide us with guest's email addresses, we get a 'coded' address so emails are sent through AirBnb. We have copies of two emails which we thought had been sent to Carolina, one over 2 months before her arrival and another the week before. We have followed this up with AirBnb but they are not really able to explain why Carolina didn't receive them, suggesting that perhaps they went into her Spam folder. We always send information by email and in future we will follow this up by phone or text if we don't hear back.

Thirty years ago Colleen came to Chamonix valley, met and married a local mountain guide and together they began to host holidayers in their bijou collection of carefully chosen chalets and apartments - Brigitte and Stephen's mazots being two of the smaller more charming accommodations; Chalet Valhalla one of the largest. Between Colleen and her family, they know everything there is to know about Chamonix and look forward to welcoming you into the beautiful Chamonix valley!
