Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Old Post Cottage, a beautiful hideaway in Mortehoe, offers stylish self-catering accommodation on the North Devon coast close to some of the best beaches, walks and surfing in Britain. It’s in a central village location - a short stroll from wonderful pubs, a restaurant and a village store - but tucked away on a car-free path. Our cottage is perfect for couples or families.

The space
Old Post Cottage is a semi-detached, stone house - one of the oldest in the village - with stylish, comfortable rooms and some charming features. (The main beam across the lounge, for example, was almost certainly "reclaimed" from a wrecked ship many centuries ago.) We're sure you will feel as relaxed and at home in Old Post Cottage as we do. Our cottage offers:

-Two generous bedrooms - one double, one twin. Both with ample storage;
-Comfortable lounge with wood-burning stove;
-Very well equipped kitchen;
-Two bathrooms;
-Large private garden - approximately 190 sq. metres with lawn, patio and seating

Guest access
The cottage is on two floors with some internal steps on the ground floor which means the cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users. The garden is separated from the cottage by a path which gives access to the neighbouring cottage. There is space to pull in to load and unload at the cottage, but to park properly guests will need to use the village car-park. It's only 50 yards away, however, and inexpensive weekly permits can be ordered in advance. We can provide further details if required.

Other things to note
Our bookings run from Saturday to Saturday with a 7-night minimum stay except in winter.

Neighbourhood highlights

Mortehoe is a pretty coastal village surrounded by National Trust land in a marine conservation area. Rockham and Grunta beaches are a short walk from the cottage.

Morte Point, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is almost on the doorstep—as is the South West Coast Path.

Woolacombe, the adjacent village, is famous for its perfect sandy beach which has been named the best in Britain - and one of the five best in Europe - by Tripadvisor users. There are several other beaches in Woolacombe and a number of good restaurants, too.

Great surfing beaches like Croyde, Saunton and Puttsborough are just a couple of miles away. Exmoor National Park isn’t much further.

The village itself has cosy pubs, restaurants (limited winter opening), a Post Office, a 13th-century church and a shop where you can pick up fresh croissants for breakfast.

Activities in the area include surfing, walking, sea-kayaking, coasteering, fishing, golf and of course lazing on the beach. You can find more information about the area from the local tourist information centre. Or ask us.
