About this listing

Truly off-the-beaten track Nica experience you won't find in guidebooks. Stay in your own bungalow in the Nicaraguan countryside with an ocean view and access to one of Nicaragua's best waterfalls.

The space

*If this private room is booked, feel free to stay in our dormitory (usually stays empty), Nicaragua Farmstay Finca Joco Mico, located near the private room.

The casita (bungalow) is clean and basic. It has electricity, one double bed and one single bed, tile floors, a table, and chairs. Fresh air flows through the room. Outside is a covered ramada with hammocks overlooking the countryside and ocean. You have access to a secluded waterfall and the local community. You can relax or be active in our humble Nicaraguan village. Do as much or as little as you like!

NOTE! We do our best to respond immediately to your reservation request within the required 24 hours; however, we are not connected to the Internet everyday on the farm. We appreciate your patience and look forward to your visit!

The waterfall is about 10 min. away in the forest. Initial guided tour of the waterfall and village is $4. You may go down as much as you like thereafter.

We now have a fast 4G cellular data connection which we can tether to guests from our cell phone via wifi. Cost is 30 cordobas per hour for 50MB of data transfer. If you plan to use the Internet regularly on the farm, we recommend that guests bring an unlocked smartphone and buy a local prepaid SIM card (about $2) with a prepaid data package.

Certainly off the backpacker trail. Jeff and Jasmina's finca is literally off the beaten track. The dirt roads were so washed out and muddy that my driver couldn't even get me the whole way there (It had been raining for 5 days, not always like that), but that was exactly what I wanted, a get away. The location is beautiful. Jeff has so many different things growing on the property I don't know how he keeps track. Just laying in the hammocks and enjoying the view and the stars was enough for me but there was so much there to do I was shocked. I took Chilo's tour and saw a waterfall, lagoon, beaches, and not a single tourist. Jasmina will not let you go hungry. Portions were huge, but no worries, there are 2 dogs, and 3 birds you can give the leftovers to. It is a very modest room, so don't expect the hilton. Four walls and roof, that is about it, but that's really all you need because you won't be in the room much. 5 stars for Jeff and Jasmina. Jeff and I had many conversations and I enjoyed them all. Great family, and I am already excited to go back!

We loved our stay at Jeff and Jasmina's! The farm feels like a really authentic Nicaraguan household, and is set in the most beautiful countryside- complete with a waterfall! Jeff and Jasmina were such friendly hosts and for our four days at the farm we were made to feel like part of the family- Jasmina is also an excellent cook! We'd really recommend!

If you want to experience authentic Nicaragua, stay with Jeff & Jasmina. Their hospitality is fantastic, great food, knowledge and an all around experience I will never forget. If you have the time, take the motorbike tour of the local area. You will see places that no regular tourist gets to visit. I will be visiting again in the future!

My stay with Jeff and Jasmina was just what I need to start off my trip in Nicaragua. Situated In the beautiful country side away from the noise of the city. Jeff is an all around great guy and being a farmer myself I could truly appreciate his farm and all the things he taught me about permaculture. Jasmina is an amazing cook and certainly did not go hungry. Having fresh everything everyday is truly appreciated. This is the place to visit when comming to Nicaragua whether it's your first or last stop it will not disappoint.

This is the real deal. If you're looking to experience the way Nicaraguans live, feel the warmth of the community, live simply in a natural paradise, this is it. Jasmina will never leave you hungry - cooking delicious meals procured right from the farm and local community - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Jeff will teach you about organic farming, permaculture, yoga, and everything in between. Do bring earplugs - the rooster and chickens will be noisy in the morning. A unique and beautiful experience, I'd love to come back!

Jeff & Jasmina User ProfileJeff & Jasmina is a superhost.

Welcome to our finca! Around these parts, we love ecofarming, yoga, ukulele, beach trips, and of course receiving guests. Lifelong learning - only when we're not farming, is what we love and we hope to share a part of the life here with you. A little help from youtube university and books certainly help due to our remote location.
Once an airbnb guest and Zen buddhist practicioner was wearing a wristband with the message, "Live Joyfully". We couldn't agree more.
