Surrounded by woods, nature and wildlife, a rustic and cozy house in a secluded and peaceful setting in rural Sandisfield, Massachusetts, yet close to first-class restaurants, museums, theater and shopping. Enjoy clean air, quiet, and a healthy and allergen-free environment to soothe your soul and refresh your senses.
You'll enjoy a spacious and comfortable room on the second floor with a King size bed (which can be converted to two singles if you prefer) with fresh cotton sheets, down comforter, dressers, bedside table and private bath. Use our fully-equipped country kitchen, relax by the fireplace in the living room, enjoy books and games, internet, screened porch, large deck, wooded private back yard, hardwood floors, woodstove, and stone fireplaces. You can walk, run, bike, or cross-country ski out the front door on a quiet, scenic country road. Breakfast is included. Free phone calls: no wifi onsite, but computer with internet for your use, and free wifi nearby at the Monterey Library and the General Store.

Interaction with guests
You decide how much interaction you want. We will share the house with you, but you will have your own private bathroom. We are a teacher and a non-profit administrator who enjoy meeting people and guiding you to the absolute best that our beautiful Berkshire County has to offer. We're happy to recommend the best activities, sights and dining in our area. On the other hand, if you want privacy, that's fine.
Situated between Sandisfield and Otis State Forests, surrounded by nature, serene and quiet, no traffic yet only 25 min. to Tanglewood, Norman Rockwell Museum, Kripalu Yoga retreat, Catamount ski and snowboard resort; 20 min. to Great Barrington (named "Best Small Town in America" by Smithsonian mag) and Lee; 15 min. to Jacob's Pillow, Butternut Ski Area, concerts, theater, Appalachian Trail, swimming, craft fairs, farmers' markets and much more! Great breakfast & lunch at the nearby Monterey General Store and the Roadside Cafe; many excellent dinner choices in Great Barrington & Lee - ask us for recommendations!
You can take a bus from New York City or Boston to Great Barrington or Lee, and rent a car there. There is some public transportation between the major Berkshire towns, but a car is highly recommended.

We can provide a delicious hearty organic country breakfast with local free-range eggs and homemade baked goods.
Our road is well-plowed in winter.
Children are welcome! Porta-Crib available on request.
We have no pets except tropical fish.
Extras: we can also pick you up at the bus stop, arrange for rental of a car, bike or skis, provide healthy snacks, laundry and/or lunch. We love to cook and can even make you dinner! Just let us know what you'd like. We look forward to sharing our house and woods with you!

We are a mature couple, a teacher and a nonprofit fundraiser, who enjoy meeting new people and all kinds of conversations. We are interested in music, theater, dance, food, films, wildlife, the outdoors, world events and all kinds of art. We also know this area well and enjoy guiding you to the places and experiences that best meet your interests. George is a Massachusetts native who has lived in Germany and Ireland, and we have both lived in England and recently traveled to Brazil and Peru.
