Barton Hurdle is a 2 bedroom cottage sitting in a beautiful wooded valley on the North Devon /Cornwall border. Just a 10 minute stroll to a breath-taking beach. Perfect for couples and families who like stargazing and the sea.
Our wood-lined cosy cottage is a magical place to escape to - set in a beautiful woodland garden, with a stream passing through and a local family of buzzards to keep you company. It's a short walk (10mins) from a stunning beach, and the South West Coast Path.
The cottage has large living/dining room kitted out with some great holiday reads, paintings and art works by local artists and even our Gran's old piano. Our newly installed kitchen has been made by a local carpenter and includes a washing machine, fridge/freezer and electric cooker.
The bathroom has just been re-tiled and a new shower fitted. We have two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with twin beds. We have electric heaters in the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. There is a new wood burner in the living/dining area. Outside there is a large garden to explore but because there is a stream running through the garden children must be supervised. We've recently added two stone outdoor seating areas and a firepit.
Guests will have access to the whole of the cottage and the garden.
Interaction with guests
We live just down the road in Bude, so we can pop by and say hello if you'd like us to. Otherwise we leave a key for you to use and some tea, coffee and biscuits to keep you going when you first arrive.
Other things to note
We offer a lovely opportunity for a digital detox, but we can give you the wifi password if that feels a little too scary. We dont have a TV as the TV signal doesn't quite reach us down in the valley.
Please treat Barton Hurdle as if it were you own home.
Please use the eco-friendly cleaning products provided.
Many of our visitors have dogs and we ask that they dont sleep or sit on the furniture.
As we have a stream running through the garden, please supervise your children at all times.
Please do not smoke inside the cottage.
We moved to Cornwall as an experiment and realised that living by the sea *is* all it's cracked up to be. I grew up in the North East but the South West, and a boy from Devon, stole my heart. We are parents to two very special boys and we can all usually be found in or next to the sea.
