A cosy and comfortable room in one of the quieter suburbs of Hobart. In a solid house with 1940s charm, this a great base from which to explore the attractions of Hobart and beyond. The room is peaceful and looks out over the front rose garden.

The space

Cosy and serene bedroom with period ambience and a pleasant outlook over the front rose garden. The room is furnished with a single bed, chest of drawers, bedside lamp, rocker/recliner armchair, small table, floor rug, wardrobe and fan/heater.

It's an extremely quiet house and street and suits people seeking a more sedate alternative to noisy hostels. Check in is any time after 3pm, earlier if there aren't any departing guests. Departure is before 12 noon, later if there aren't any arriving guests.

I can hold a small amount of luggage for you - no risk accepted - in my store room for up to a week. I can also accept/hold mail for people who have a booking.

Enjoy your stay!

p.s. This property has several steps from the house to the front gate which might be difficult for people with limited mobility.

Guest access

Kitchen, bathroom and toilet (shared), lounge with TV, washing machine and line.

Also available:
- towel(s)
- electric blanket
- extra pillow
- iron and ironing board
- tourist information, maps, bus timetables, etc.
- electrical adapter for international plugs
- books about Tasmania (a small collection, but expanding!)
You have access to the washing machine and clothes line if required, daytime only. There's a pleasant back yard if you would like to sit out on the lawn.

Interaction with guests

I'm usually around; NOT always contactable by phone. I like to spend some time on the first day of your stay making sure your plans for your time in Hobart are workable. After that you're away!
Sometimes there are social things going on that you might like to join.

Other things to note

Occasionally the kitchen is not available. These times are known well in advance so you can work around them.
Washing machine is available midday-6pm. There is no dryer but clothes can be dried on the outside line or indoors on a rack.

Free parking on premise
Wireless Internet
Indoor Fireplace

Alan is a quietly courteous guy with with strong vegan principles which I respect. I stayed for eight nights but did not see a great deal of Alan as I was away everyday travelling around Tas. with my daughter, who lives in Hobart. When I did need any advice Alan was very helpful and informative. The bedroom was simply furnished and very clean and comfortable, perfectly suited to my needs. Tiger Den is well located and near facilities in Moonah. There is a regular bus service into Hobart which came in handy. Alan's description of what he has to offer is spot on and so met my expectations. i think he offers excellent value for money and a peaceful place to stop.

Nice room with a balcony and fridge. Quiet street and house. I was staying while I was working in Hobart and it met my needs. Only negatives were that there was not TV and no locks on the bedroom or bathroom doors.

I stayed at Alan's home for a week in January during my relocation to TAS. It was a quiet, private room with lots of natural light. The bathroom and shower were spacious and tidy. Alan was very accommodating and offered fridge space, secure bike storage and advice/directions when I asked for it. The house is located on a quiet street with ample street parking. It's a ten minute walk to a large grocery store and shops. Easy access to the intercity cycle path.

Relatively new to Tasmania, I operate a food business specialising in vegan cuisine and products. Please use phone number that ends in 220 if you want to contact directly. It's the number of my housemate Andrew who is handing Airbnb stuff in July to September 2017.
