This is a really nice space for 2-3 people. It's very clean and well stocked with sheets, towels and etc. Everything in the place is well maintained and in good working order. WiFi is great too. We spent a lot of time in Manhattan and while this place is not super close it was nice to return to a quieter neighborhood at the end of the day. Also, communication with Alex is great and he will make sure you are satisfied with your stay.
The apartment is very stylish and a good size. We found it to be clean and fairly well-maintained, and the soft drinks/beer left in the fridge were a nice touch. The bathroom was great, with a powerful shower and good lighting. We also appreciated the use of a hairdryer and an iron. Unfortunately Alexandre wasn't able to be there to check us in and we didn't meet him over the four nights we stayed. This was a shame as getting into the apartment was not very straightforward, and we would have appreciated some local knowledge of the area. However Alexandre was very easy to reach by message and responded quickly to questions about arrangements in this way. In our opinion the location of the apartment wasn't as convenient as described: including the walk to the subway station, it is a good 45 minutes travel time into Manhattan via either of the closest two stations, and took us over an hour to get back to the flat on some evenings. The neighbourhood is far from gentrified. There do appear to be a couple of nice bars within reach of the apartment, but these are in the minority. There is a significant police presence - over the course of our four night stay we saw three separate police call outs on our walks to and from the station, including one where they were putting up police tape after an incident. As white Londoners we felt conspicuous and a bit unwelcome - although to be fair we didn't experience any direct trouble - and were conscious of remaining alert and careful on the walk home from the subway after dark. There is a lot of neighbourhood noise at weekends, with music and shouting in the street directly outside of the apartment until 3/4am on both Friday and Saturday night. We were also slightly anxious about the thin internal doors leading from the bedrooms to the communal areas of the building - although this may be more standard to US visitors, we are not used to such flimsy doors leading outside an apartment. Given all these things, we felt apartment to be a bit overpriced. All that said, we had a good stay overall with no major problems. We probably wouldn't choose to stay there again, but imagine the flat would be very well suited to someone who knows the area better.
Alexandre was a wonderful host, he had great communication. The apartment is lovely and the neighborhood was perfect. I felt safe walking at night, the apartment is near the train station (J line). There is a health food grocery store right at that stop and places to grab a coffee, also a really nice neighborhood bar nearby called The Wilkey. The apartment has many toiletries, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, and umbrellas. It's extremely clean and well equipped. We had a great stay!
We loved staying at Alex's place. The flat is big, comfy, super clean and the kitchen has everything you might need to cook. It's close to the subway and to a few great bars, coffee places and fab restaurants. It's an easy ride to Manhattan and to Williamsburg and Brooklyn Heights. Alex has been fantastic and let us leave our luggage there as we had a late flight. Highly recommended! Thanks so much Alexandre!! Tasha, Andy and Sara.
