Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
One of two private rooms in our home in the pretty seaside town of Skerries (see separate listing, "Jacuzzi, Sea Walks (2) Skerries", for the second bedroom). There is a comfortable double bed, and a good single fold-up bed is also available if requested, so this room can accommodate three people. You will share the family bathroom which has a shower as well as a jacuzzi bath. A delicious breakfast is included.

The space
A bright, spacious room with a comfortable double bed, a wardrobe and a desk. A good fold-up single bed is also available if requested. The room overlooks the quiet cul-de-sac at the front of the house where there is free parking.

We also have a second double room listed separately (see "Jacuzzi, Sea Walks (2), Skerries" for the second bedroom), so we can accommodate up to five guests in our home at the same time.

The shared family bathroom is available to you where you may relax in a jacuzzi bubble bath! The bathroom also has a separate shower and a bidet.

There is free Wi-Fi.

We provide a simple but delicious breakfast which includes freshly-squeezed orange juice, choice of cereals, free-range eggs, Irish brown bread, jams made by Deirdre, freshly-ground coffee, and a selection of teas - caff and decaf. We can also cater for coeliac, lactose-free, vegetarian and vegan diets if given prior notice.

Skerries town centre is less than a mile away with a good choice of cafés, pubs, restaurants, shops, a thatched cottage Tourist Information Centre and ample parking. There are beautiful sandy beaches, a pretty tidal harbour, two Martello towers, and five islands offshore, with tours to some of them. You may also like to visit Skerries Mills and nearby Ardgillan Castle.

Guest access
The bedrooms and shared bathroom are upstairs. The communal areas downstairs that are available to our guests include the kitchen, downstairs toilet, conservatory, decking and garden.

There are lots of books in the house which you are welcome to browse, and games such as chess and Scrabble. You are welcome to help yourself to tea, coffee, etc. at any time, and to prepare LIGHT meals in the kitchen in the evening.

You will be given keys to your room and to the front door and porch on arrival, and you may come and go as you wish.

Other things to note
Skerries is a wonderfully safe and friendly town, very pretty, with beautiful sea views all around and lots to see and to do!

Location

Skerries, County Dublin, Ireland

Our semi-detached, two-storey house is in a safe and quiet cul-de-sac, fifteen minutes walk from the centre of the beautiful seaside town of Skerries.

We are fifteen minutes walk to the train station and five minutes to the nearest bus stop. Skerries is twenty-five minutes from the airport by car. Dublin is thirty-five minutes away by train, and forty minutes by car. There is also a bus service.

The nearest beach to the house is five minutes walk away, where you can see the sun rise. Your walk will bring you on by the long and sandy South Beach, off which there are five islands - Colt, Patrick's, Shenick, Lambay and the lighthouse island of Rockabill, with the Mourne Mountains visible in the distance. You can then proceed around the Head (called Red Island) to the pretty fishing harbour and North Beach. Here it is lovely to sit out with a beer or glass of wine while watching the sun set!

We are a ten-minute walk from Skerries Mills with its café, gallery, souvenir and craft shops and where you can take a tour of the beautifully restored Mill with its two windmills.

It's only another five-minutes from Skerries Mills to the town centre with its many shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. Do drop into the pretty Tourist Information Centre with its thatched roof, and to Floraville Park with its family-friendly Seals sculpture outside.

Ardgillan Castle, with its fantastic vista across the sea, is only a ten-minute drive away and is worth a visit. In the main house you can view exhibitions, take a tour, and enjoy the café, which has outside seating overlooking the extensive grounds. Ardgillan has many lovely flowers and specimen trees, a rose garden, a potentilla garden and a beautifully restored walled garden, as well as large fields and forest walks to ramble through or to relax and picnic in.

The prehistoric sites of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth are only a half-hours drive to the north-west and it's very much recommended to visit these, particularly if you go there before 9am in order to avoid the queues, as you cannot pre-book!

Skerries is a very friendly town where people greet you as you pass, a pretty town with lots to do, and we think you will find it both peaceful and lively at the same time!
