About this listing

Our beautiful hand crafted shepherd's hut is the ideal retreat for those who like the best of both worlds, located in the market town of Forres you would never know you are right in the centre of town, nestled at the bottom of our mature garden.

The space

The red caravan offers a cosy living space with wood burning stove, kitchen area and a comfy double mezzanine bed with two fold out chair beds. There is an outdoor compost toilet just a stones throw from the caravan door and a hot outdoor bush shower. Included in the space is a veranda and a secluded patio area for barbecues or a small outdoor fire, there is also a decking area. The space has fantastic double windows which open up to a third of the width of the space and lead on to the decking area where you can relax under the apple tree and watch the garden birds or look out on to the beautiful garden. There is electricity in the cabin that is provided by a solar panel.

Guest access

Guests have their own private access from the town centre car park, where you can also park for free for the duration of your stay. Guests have access to the cabin, patio, decking area and garden area beyond the apple trees.

Interaction with guests

Steve & Caroline are available to help guests with any questions if needed.

Other things to note

It is important to note that unfortunately the accommodation is not suitable for guests in wheelchairs as the mezzanine bed is accessed via a ladder and the toilet has some steps, so normal levels of agility are required.
We have a dog which we will try our best to keep out of your way during your stay but as we have children we cannot guarantee that she won't pay you a visit. For this reason it is important to note that all gates need to be kept shut at all times and that she is quite keen on looking for opportunities to steal food so please be aware and don't encourage her by intentionally feeding her!!

We would just ask that you love and respect our little red caravan as if she were your own as she is a much loved part of our family. We also ask that you don't bring back extra guests unless by prior arrangement. As I mentioned before, because of the dog all gates must be kept shut at all times. Also, no smoking in the cabin please.

Cosy place, perfect for a couple and short stays. There are all you need in a small place. Close to the center of a village. Great place to discover the area. Only you have to know the shower and the bathroom are outside. The shower is a camping shower and the water close is without water, it's eco - compost. Steve is a great host.

This little cottage is great for one or two people and a nice little adventure in a beautiful spot. The garden is particularly beautiful. Steve was a terrific host for us and very helpful with ideas for where to go and what to do. It is a place you will remember. The place is remarkably well-appointed for its size and very clean and tidy.

This was a great overnight. It was exactly as I thought it would be from the photos. The outdoor shower was an experience that my husband enjoyed. The town was really quiet when we were there on a Saturday evening so we really didn't get to see much of the town but had a nice dinner nearby. Caroline was very nice upon our arrival.

We had a lovely wee one night stay here. Gorgeous garden and pretty accommodation. Had everything we needed. Excellent vegan/nonvegan breakfast in Chimes just up the road.

Steve & Caroline User ProfileSteve & Caroline is a superhost.

We are a young at heart creative couple who love making beautiful things and beautiful spaces. Steve is a djembe drummer and facilitates workshops and drum circles. Caroline is an contemporary artist and sculptor. Together we make 'singing trees' and sell our outdoor musical instruments (xylophones) to schools across the country. It has been a joy to create a special place in our garden for visitors and friends alike.
