Description

The space

The house, only accessible on foot via a path (a staircase), is located in Persico, one of the coasts between Riomaggiore and Portovenere, in the 5 Terre National Park. Through a path you can reach (about 30 minutes to run down and 45 min to climb up from the house) the wild pebble beach. The house consists of a living room with exposed beams, a large fireplace, a stove and a comfortable sofa bed, a kitchen with a marble sink and a bathroom. On the upper floor there are two bedrooms, one with double bed and another one with two single beds (possibility of becoming double bed) with wooden floor and a cast iron stove. The cottage is furnished with antiques and hand-made furnitures by our father.
Since the house is accessible only on foot we recommend to put your stuffs (we advice you to take away only the indispensable stuffs) in backpacks or easily transportable bags and to wear comfortable shoes (sneakers or hiking, or sport sandals).

Guest access

The house overlooks a terrace with seaside view, equipped with a large table where you can dine in the moonlight in the company of fireflies. Some beach chairs and a large sun umbrella are available to enjoy the shade during the afternoon naps.

Interaction with guests

We are willing to accompany you on foot from Campiglia to the house, show you the place giving some informations about it, explain you how the house systems work and briefly illustrate all the paths starting from the house.
Next to the house there's an independent studio flat where sometimes we stay.

The neighbourhood

The place is really unique and magic, out of the crowded 5 Terre, completely surrounded by the nature, you can get away from it all and find the inner peace!

Getting around

The small village of Campiglia can be reached by bus (it starts from La Spezia Central Station, about 7 routes a day from Monday to Saturday and 2 routes on Sunday) or by car. You can park for free in Campiglia during your stay. In Campiglia you'll find a restaurant, a grocery store - bar that offers a pizza service in the charming sea-view terrace in the weekend and a rest area where you can taste local products, a quick lunch or a drink during the sunset.
From Campiglia you can walk through several paths towards Portovenere, 5 Terre and La Spezia.

Awesome experience! You did not expect a place like this. In fact its description matches its appearance, but there is a magic, a silence and something traditional which is not framed to post cards or made up to a touristic theme - It is an authentic village. As a tourist, you seem to be the minority there even though it seems to be the most beautiful place on earth. Agnese fits perfectly in this experience. She explaines the house. Collects us at the train station, drove us to Campilia, comes along with us to the cottage, leaves some wine and pasta. Everything went smooth in such a stairy environment. Thank you!

The house is beautiful and as remote as the description makes it sound. The path up and down from the beach to Campiglia is steep and when it's over 30 degrees it was hard going but if you take it slowly and remember to wear sturdy footwear it's fine and the views and the setting are worth it. The story behind the house and the obvious love that the family have for the place really made us feel privileged to have been able to stay there. The restaurant at the top in Campiglia is very nice too - the chef was lovely, really friendly and knowledgeable. We had a very memorable, peaceful and relaxing stay and would recommend to anyone. It is made very clear in the description about the location and access which was great. We knew what to expect! We met Irene's dad on the handover day which was nice too. He is a very warm, friendly and interesting man. I wish I could go back there again!

This is a cosy and rustic vacation cottage situated on a mountainside overlooking the sea. Each day we woke up to sunny skies and an outstanding ocean view. Agnese was very kind and accommodating: we particularly want to thank her for waiting for us well past our anticipated arrival time (we had some travel delays). I wholeheartedly recommend this listing. I do advise that you read pay attention to the description: access to the cottage, and to the sea below it, is only by foot, and is something of a hike (although I actually liked this.) The village above (Campiglia) is nicely situated between Portovenere and Cinque Terre, and parking outside the village is free and readily available. The interior of the house is spacious and charmingly furnished.

The cottage is lovely and very secluded. I would certainly encourage others to stay here, however be aware that the climb both to the village and the beach is quite long and tiring if one is not physically fit. Otherwise a great place to stay for a few nights.

The stay in Agnese and Irene's sea cottage was very beautiful, slow and quiet. We were very content there. The children slept so well, we all drifted in sleep until late in the morning. The walk down the hill to the cottage ensured a peaceful place away from the bustle of people, and the children enjoyed the walk too picking blackberries and flowers, and counting lizards. After a few days of up to the bus stop and down to the sea our legs were strong. The shop at the top of the hill in Campiglia was good for bread, courgette omelette, and pizza. The bus - infrequent but reliable - so we managed without hiring a car, suited us very much (we travelled from England by train and the trains in Liguria are very good). Although we didn't explore the area, we just watched the butterflies and climbed the steps. The cottage itself was beautiful, clean and cool. The bathroom lovely and the bedrooms very comfortable. All was just as we needed. We had everything we needed. The sea is a stepped walk down past fig trees and cactus, steep in part. Our youngest daughter is now six and managed it well with rests, but may be more tiring for younger children. The beach stark and wild, with lots of bleached timber to make dens and big rocky pebbles. The clear sea varied daily as to how strong, the children stayed in the shallow parts close to the shore. Agnese came to meet us when we arrived in Campiglia and cooked lunch for us, and we were tired from travelling and waking at 5am; and so a lovely, helpful and very thoughtful welcome. We'd have liked to talk more - Agnese and her family are very very nice!

Agnese was lovely - she met us in the village and helped us with our bags (rucksacks really important for the walk down to the cottage!) She had cold water ready for us and a welcoming bottle of wine. She gave us lots of information about the area, special walks, maps and books Everything was as described - though even more wonderful than we had imagined!
