I stayed in Valerie's apartment for 2,5 months and really felt like home there. The apartment is adorable, charming and very luminous with such a beautiful view! Neighbors are kind, the location is central, but calm. Everything you might need is within a walking distance. Valerie herself is a lovely person and a wonderful host, always making sure that my stay was comfortable and going well. I can highly recommend this place and would stay again!

The apartment is located in a really wonderful area. It's quiet, beautiful, and convenient all at the same time. It benefits from an abundance of natural light, which I appreciated a lot. The place was well-equipped with kitchen, cleaning, and bedding necessities. However, the fact that there is no bathroom within the apartment does reduce its value significantly and proved to be more inconvenient than I had initially predicted. As a chambre de bonne, a single room typically for servants, the price is much higher than it is in fact worth, I must say. One of the largest issues that I encountered was the noise from the building's collective heating system. Since there are pipes inside of the apartment itself, I was able to hear some type of liquid running through them all night, which disrupted my sleep for many nights. In addition, the pipes and / or radiator emitted an incredibly noisy clicking sound (for lack of a better term) that frequently startled me in the middle of the night, since it would occur sporadically, and prevent me from being able to fall asleep again. Although Valerie was quite friendly in the very beginning and end of my stay, when I began to bring various issues to her attention (regarding payment and other apartment-related topics) I felt that she was slightly irritated, which was subtlety demonstrated by her sudden change in formality when addressing me in French. I received this impression on multiple occasions, and regardless of how strong or mild the impression is, it causes one to hesitate to ask for assistance. Ultimately, whatever needed to be resolved eventually was, including the radiator, which was overheating and making loud noises, though it did involve my feeling a bit uncomfortable, as if I were bothering her. Overall, however, she did take care of what needed to be taken care of.

Response from Valerie:

The place was exactly how it looked in the pictures. It's bright and sunny and really wonderful. The location was great. The Eiffel tower, The Grand/Petit Palais, the Palais de Tokyo, the Musee D'art Moderne, the Arc de Triomphe, the place where napoleon is bueried, the american cathedral, and the Siene are all under 15 minutes away on foot. There are also really great boulangeries and shopping on the street nearby. The kitchen has tons of utensils and everything you might need. And for me it was very important that the place had great wifi, and it definitely did. There are a few downsides. The toilet is down the hall, which was more annoying than I thought it would be. Also the shower is kind of difficult, the curtian doesn't close all the way and it was hard not getting water everywhere. The bathtub doesn't have a plug, so you can't really take a bath. Valerie was a good host, she met me at the apartment and showed me everything. However when I ran out of toilet paper, she wasn't really able to help me much. She was really nice though. Overall I would say that if you're on a budget or traveling alone, this is a great place to stay!

Valerie was warm and welcoming, and was responsive resolving a couple minor things that came up. The studio is airy and light, looks just like the pictures. Safe, quiet neighborhood and building. Fantastic location 1 block from the Seine River, 10-15 min walk from the Eiffel Tower and 10 min walk to St. Germain. Positives: + studio was clean, bright and cheery. big windows let in lots of light. you can even see the top of the Eiffel Tower over the building across the way, lit up at night. + quiet floor with little noise. it seems to be a floor of many small apartments but it seemed very few people came and went. perhaps in summer (students?) are off on holiday and not around. + Valerie had left 2 little chocolate cookie packets in the fridge, a nice small touch. It was great to have the fridge to buy a few things and a microwave if needed. + her parents let me in and though we couldn't communicate well (they only speak French, I speak English and other languages), we somehow got in and they were sweet and friendly. Also they called Valerie for me to chat with. she was again was warm and welcoming. + Valerie checked in a couple of times while I was there to make sure all was fine. + this location is central, amazing for walking to the Eiffel Tower, along the Seine or quickly geting into St. Germain neighborhood just 10 min walk away. Misc: - there was trouble getting wifi access but I think now Valerie will post the information in the studio so you have it immediately upon arrival and don't have to try and reach her later to get the correct into. - the shower space is tiny so might not work for a very tall or larger person to get into. - fyi: the studio has shower and sink. the toilet is down the hall and you use a key to use it. - fyi: the studio is around the corner from the address she'll give as where to meet. i waited in the lobby of the address given, but turned out i needed to meet her parents outside and we went around the corner to the actual entry of other building. It was a great stay!

J'ai bien passé mes vacances chez Valérie. Tous les meubles sont nouveaux et le studio est bien rénové. Et le quartier se trouve à l'invalide à couvert et très agréable. Valérie est une très accueillante host et me répond très vite toujours.
