Interaction with guests

Jack and Karen are your host and hostess who live on site who are theatre and travel afficionados. We are two "dreamers" who are passionate about theatre and the Stratford Festival as well as good food and wine, art, dance, literature, music, opera, travelling, health and healing, Paris and Mexico! And yes, we take our cat!

Nous parlons francais y nosostros hablamos espanol but we do not speak "tech" and do not know how to type accents in foreign languages on our ancient lap top.

Jack is the resident artist and one of his mediums is painting in acrylics. Hence our name "Acrylic Dreams."

In 1987 we moved from Toronto to 66 Bay Street, Stratford and created Acrylic Dreams. We are celebrating our 28th year welcoming guests from around the globe.

In our former lives we worked in the hospitality industry with several years experience in the restaurant and catering industry that we bring to running our Stratford B&B.

Karen was also a flight attendant and with Jack sometimes accompanying her around the world on longer layovers. Once when Karen could not get their wedding anniversary off Jack flew with her to Paris for a day so that we could celebrate together and in the morning we flew back home.

We both graduated with honours from the Yoga Instructors program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario in 1991 and Jack teaches yoga to the members of the Birmingham Conservatory of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Karen has also been a practicing Certified Reflexologist since 1997 and the recipient of the Stratford Gazette's Reader's Choice Award for Best Reflexologist.

In 2007 we both became Certified Chair Massage Instructors from the Toronto based Relax to the Max Chair Massage School. And we offer onsite chair massage and reflexology treatments here to soothe and relax you and to enhance your B&B experience at Acrylic Dreams!

We arrived shortly before our performance was to begin, and we were tired and rushed. Jack solved the problem by driving us to the theater. Talk about above-and-beyond the call of duty!

Response from Karen Zamaria:
We wanted to make sure that you would be paid back by Airbnb for the 3rd night that you accidentally booked and that was not available. Being our first Airbnb client we did not know how they would refund your extra night and wanted to give you your money while you were here if it did not work through their system. We did not think that we were being obsessive. Lots of furniture as we often have groups of 3 in the room and they sometimes invite other guests to join them in their room for wine and cheese or cocktails so extra chairs in the room for that purpose. Sorry if the bar fridge made a little noise.
