The space

Open since August 2014! The improvements continue so you just might catch us with a tool or a paint brush in our hands! Our latest venture is two baby goats in the back yard! Sooo cute!

Our stay at the Hay River House surpassed expectations. Audrey and Ken are kind and welcoming, and prepare an amazing breakfast and other treats! The house and property are beautiful and very clean. Definitely take some time to sit down by the river with some coffee or wine and relax in peaceful, private nature! Wish we would have stayed longer!

Audrey and Ken's home was fabulous. Their place was just as described, clean, easy to get to (helpful as there isn't a lot of cellular service in the area!) comfortable, and the breakfast served was very delicious. Audrey was very accommodating of our schedule, and was excellent at communicating with me. We will happily stay again next time we're in the area!

I absolutely loved my stay at Hay River. Audrey and Ken are delightful hosts. Audrey was extremely easy to communicate with regarding booking, and even offered to drive into town to meet me so I could find my way out to the house the first night when it was possible I would be arriving after dark. The rooms are cozy and the zucchini bread to die for. Audrey and Ken, Thank you so much for your sweet hospitality. Hope to see you the next time I am in Menomenie!

After a long day of driving it was such a treat to pull up to the Hay River House! Audrey greeted me at the door and got me settled right in for the night. I loved that there were cookies and other perfect midnight snacks available in the alcove, plus cool a/c, wifi and a super comfortable bed. Then in the morning she presented me with so many yummy breakfast options I couldn't even choose. Also, goats! it was a great stay!

Our experience at Hay River was wonderful! We were greeted warmly and taken to our beautiful Ivory Coast Room which was decorated with items from Western Africa. It was so peaceful and resting. Our breakfast was beyond words! Having health issues, a wonderful and lavish breakfast was made for us. I would definitely recommend for anyone in the area to stay at the Hay River House.

Audrey and Ken made our B&B and FIRST AIRBNB experience amazing!! We are sold on the concept, and we will definitely use AIRBNB again.. Upon arrival they both greeted us and Ken generously carried our bags up to our room for us. The place is something out of a fairy tale, quiet, clean and all the decorations are so unique. The breakfasts each morning were amazing and she offers to share her recipes also :) I can't say enough good things about the HayRiver House, I would be writing all day! Its across from the Grain Bin that you must check out, and a walk down to the river is a must!

After spending 20 years living mostly in the Ivory Coast, West Africa, we've come back to our native Wisconsin. We enjoy country life and working to restore this old place is a passion of ours. Audrey is a pianist and vocalist with a flair for improvisation, particularly gospel music. Ken puts a twinkle in his eye when telling a tale, saying, "It could be true!"
