Little Casa Foresti: a cute flat with garden located in a quiet medieval village on top of a green hill, in the center of the region. As hosts, we do our best to have our guest experience Umbria off the path - our reviews speak by themselves.

Hello traveler! Looking for a cosy and elegant base to relax and explore the beautiful landscapes, tastes and cultural heritage of Umbria - the region nicknamed "The Green Heart of Italy"? We're glad you found this page, and ready to welcome you!

/// Please note: if you don't find availability for the dates you need, please consider our other wonderful apartment in the same building... just click on our profile picture on the right and scroll down to find it under "listings". Thank you! ///

"Little Casa Foresti" is a 2-rooms, 50sq/m apartment with large garden inside a 14th century building (renovated in 2009); it's located in the historic centre of Bettona, a lovely medieval village resting on top of a green hill coated in olive groves. Finely furnished and decorated, equipped with Wi-Fi, washing machine and (we hope!) everything you might find in your house, it's just the perfect place for your stay.

Our comfortable holiday house, with room for up to 3 people, is the ideal option for a pleasant stay in Umbria, ensuring you moments of rest and relax between visits to the precious historic and cultural jewels of which Umbria is rich, either in the well-known cities like Assisi and Perugia and the “minor” centres to discover.

On top of this, we - the Foresti family - really enjoy to get to know a little our guests by offering something to make their stay unique.
If we have time and if you wish to, we'll be glad to show you around some hidden spots in the local area, have you over for dinner or take you to a local winery, cheesemaker, restaurant or cultural event - obviously free of charge! My son Francesco speaks very good English and my wife Anna is available if you'd like to get some Italian cooking lessons. We'll do our best to make you feel really at home - of course without being invasive - so feel free to ask us about interesting destinations nearby, as well as restaurants or other local attractions! We live just upstairs of the apartment...

We'll be glad to help you get the best this region has to offer. Giorgio, Anna, Francesco and Lucilla Foresti are pleased to welcome you in their home for a pleasant stay in Bettona!

Bettona, is a beautiful small village of 300 people of Etruscan (4th century BC) and medieval origin, set on a hill overlooking Perugia and Assisi. Although tiny, in town you will find three restaurants, two bars, a small grocery shop with homemade food, a deli shop, a city museum, an international library, a multi-sport complex and, quite often, some social events where people gather to eat all together.

Bettona is quite close to every interesting destination in Umbria:
it is just 16 km far from Assisi, home of St. Francis and UNESCO Heritage Site;
5 km from Torgiano, renown worldwide for its precious wines;
10 km from Deruta, famous for its ceramics;
17 km from Bevagna, the town that turns medieval for the whole month of June;
20 km from Perugia, largest city in the region, seat of a large University for foreigners and with a young nightlife in its historic center;
22 km from Spello, 24 km from Montefalco, 26 km from Foligno, 33 km from Todi, 55 from Spoleto, each one a different medieval pearl to explore;
and 45 km from the shores of Trasimeno Lake and its wonderful tiny islands.

In one hour of travel by car it’s possible to reach every destination in Umbria. If you're up for longer travels, Siena, Firenze and Roma are all within two hours.

Public transportation isn't that great in Umbria, we recommend renting a car (either in Perugia airport, 15km away, or Perugia train station) to experience Umbria at its best.

Parking spots are always available not more than a minute away from the house. At the moment of booking we provide a map of Bettona with everything the village has to offer and a map of Umbria with our favourite landmarks.

Everything about stay was exceptional! Our flat was more wonderful than we expected. The gardens were beautifully maintained. We had fresh tomatoes, sage, lavender and basil, grazie mille to Anna and Giorgio, to enjoy with our wine on the flat's patio. The flat had everything would could ask for including a welcome bottle of local Umbrian wine! Our hosts were gracious and generous with their time and suggestions for getting to know the area which is exquisite with stunning vistas everywhere you look. Anna and Giorgio suggested we get a car and they were so right!! We will come back again and have told friends about this fabulous 14th century find.

The apartment in Bettona is charming and the setting so Umbrian beautiful. Grapes on the trellace over the terrace. Brush past the lavender and rosemary on the path inside the garden. The scent is in the air. We cooked and had antipasto on the terrace and dinners in the dining area. Buying local food is fantastic. Our host took us to Bevagna and also to visit a local producer of cheese and good local wine. The linens and beds were nice. Kitchen not big but made some great food in it with the local products. Be aware that there is only one tiny market inside Bettona, and going out for just about anything requires a dicey trip down the hill thru switchback curves. There is no walking around the block to get a loaf of bread. We found great places to visit via car in our week there. Don't miss Spello and Collepino and eat at the truely cool Taverna de Sivestri in Collipino. Go to Assisi on a Monday and any day take a vist to the hermitage where St Francis prayed on Mt Subasio. Eat truffles and great olive oil. Grazie Nancy and Tom

Giorgio was really helpful during our stay. He showed us where to buy cheese and wine (and gelato!) from the locals stores. Furthermore, he took us to a cute town nearby and explained about the history. The apartment had everything we needed, was quiet and we could easily find parking close by. The views were beautiful and the location great for discovering Umbria.

Anna and Giorgio are perfect hosts, we had the pleasure to stay 14 days in their lovely apartment. They are both very nice and welcoming, they helped us to explore the most beautiful places in Umbrië and Rome. We also enjoyed the well decorated and clean apartment, equipped with everything you could need. And we loved to sit on the terrace with wonderful view. We had a great stay!

I could write the usual: how our hosts made us feel welcome, how the listing description was as accurate as can be, how clean the house, how lovely the view, how great the location (Bettona) from which to explore all of Umbria. All very true, but none of it would do justice to Anna and Giorgio or the home they shared with us during our one-week June visit to Umbria. What we experienced is not easily captured by words because at its core it was visceral, a series of moments intensely felt rather than observed. Like an early morning viewed from the apartment's balcony, when darkness slowly gave way to a silvery glow that caressed the tree tops like water gently flowing over a smooth river stone. Or the sound of Bettona's church bells which refused to merely mark the time but unexpectedly broke into a symphonic melody that inspired bodies to move - in my case, a barefoot modern dance abstraction with my arms flailing ungracefully in the evening air, that provoked a raised eyebrow from an onlooking neighbor, and the uproarious laughter of my wife. On my part, it was simply the feeling of unbridled joy. Then there was Anna and Giorgio's equally unbridled generosity; it didn't restrict itself to the friendly and customary tourist advice, where to go, what to it was an invitation to be an active part of their lives. We joined them on a trip to a local lavender field, and for two memorable meals in which delectable Umbrian food and wine shared the stage with community, conversation and lots of laughter. Through it all we could not help but notice Giorgio's and Anna's love for their life and for each other. It was inspiring. Near the end of our stay, I was returning from the town's grocery store with some freshly-baked bread, cheese and prosciutto. I opened the iron gate that led to Anna and Giorgio's garden and walked along the path dotted with fruit trees, lavender, cacti and flowers towards the house. It was a misty morning and the mountains were covered in a slight, almost transparent fog. I looked up to see my wife sitting on the balcony, eyes closed, slowly sipping a cup of coffee. It was silent. And then I felt it. I knew it was fleeting, but for that sweet, little moment...I was at peace.

We spent amazing 10 days in Casa Foresti! Giorgio and Anna were wonderful and caring hosts, showing us around and recommending the best local places to discover. The apartment was very clean and cozy, equipped with everything you might need for your holiday. The view from the terrace was on the surrounding hills of Bettona and beautiful garden with blooming poppies, lavender, herbs like rosemary, mint or sage as well as olive trees or even gingko biloba! Bettona is a quiet and lazy little town with medieval walls and breathtaking views over Assisi and other Umbrian towns. It is a perfect place for local excursions to surrounding towns and vineyards. If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet getaway in Umbria which is still very close to Assisi and Perugia, this is the place!

We had a wonderful time at Anna and Giorgio's apartment. It is such a lovely home and extremely well equipped with everything we needed. There were some lovely thoughtful touches such as having coffee and olive oil provided as well as water, tea, milk, salt and pepper in the kitchen. A lovely gift of bottle of locally produced wine was also there for us when we arrived. They also had books, guide books, board games, cards and restaurant recommendations in the apartment. The photos and description of the apartment are very accurate- if anything we felt that it was even nicer than the photos showed it to be. We travelled with our young baby and Anna and Giorgio provided us with a cot and highchair which was extremely helpful. Bettona is a fantastic location, as well as being a beautiful walled village itself (the apartment is within the walls), it is very quick and easy to get anywhere in Umbria from there (we had a car, so cannot comment on public transport). We found the apartment a little hard to find, but Giorgio was very helpful and gave us directions to get there over the phone and was waiting for us in the main square of Bettona to show us where to go, making our arrival easy. Giorgio also took us out for some local cheese tasting, as well as to a local winery. He also spent a morning showing us around Bevagna, a lovely hill town nearby, as well as a small village that we never would have gone to without his guidance. We really appreciated his time and all the local knowledge he shared with us. We couldn't have asked for more from Anna and Giorgio, they were fantastic hosts and their apartment is delightful. They went above and beyond what we expected of them. We will be recommending to our friends and family that they stay at Anna and Giorgio's should they ever visit Umbria.

Hello, i'm Giorgio! After 33 years spent in Rome, where I studied and practiced law, I moved to Umbria to live in the countryside in a farming cooperative. After that, i managed a publishing house, a software house and a communication agency, while putting my heart and work in renewing the house in Bettona listed here on Airbnb. But I won't keep it all for me - I hope you'll come live it a little yourself!

I am a lover of traveling as well, either in Italy, Europe or Asia; I enjoy human contact and me and my family (my wife Anna, my daughter Lucilla and my son Francesco) will be happy to guide our guests, if they wish, to discover the nature, history, art and enogastronomy of this beautiful region. Hope to see you here soon!

A presto!
