Independent Apartment with ocean view. Lovely Havana residence which two bedroom with private bathroom. The apartment is located in front of the sea (Walking Malecon Avenue).

The space

The zone of Vedado is a combination of quietness and amusement. La Rampa is the traditional place for an entertaining walk and meeting with the Cuban people. There´s no time in the day or night when people aren´t using this centric road intending to visit the big icecream shop Coppelia, to head for the Malecon (another venue of encounters for fun) or to visit the several night clubs (many of them run by the private sector that have just open after the realease of restrictions in Cuba). Precisely in La Rampa, a net of wifi started to work in July 2015 and you are likely to see in this area many people using their phones to get connected for the first time, although very common in most of the world, a very weird and new Cuban picture. For those music lovers, the offers are incredibly wide: it´s possible to watch live outdoor concerts in El Pabellon Cuba (La Rampa) or other places like Fábrica del Arte, a really interesting project that gathers fine arts, digital art, as well as live concerts. So regarding music is possible to listen to high quality one like jazz (La Zorra y El Cuervo, The Jazz Café), cuban trova, pop, traditional or even hip hop or rock. All this in Vedado, sometimes at walking distance, sometimes at 5-10 minutes by car.
In case the internet, swimming pools or other services are needed, you can get to the hotels around: the National Hotel, The Cohiba Hotel or The Riviera Hotel are the main options.
Finally, a large number of private restaurants have come up, some of them very well decorated and most of them with quite reasonable prices. All in all, Vedado is the symbol of the new in Havana and also is comparatively quieter than Old Havana.

Casita and her son (owners?), were incredibly helpful upon checking in. They gave us the run down of nearby places to eat, and hooked it up with a taxi back to the airport. The place itself has a gorgeous view and is a stone's throw from the Malecon and within a 15 minute walk to to FAC

Location's view outstanding. Lulled by the waves each night. Especially liked restaurant La Catedral. Excellent menu and service. For those who like to workout there is a fitness gym across the street.

The location of this apartment is absolutely perfect. The apartment is situated on the 9th floor of a very secure building and the view from the balcony is amazing. The owner Clarita is a sweetheart and lives next door if any problems occur. She informed us about a 24 hour cafe next door where you can by food and bottled water. Believe when I say, its easier to find alcohol than bottled water. Also she informed us of this restaurant La catedral which is like a five minute walk. The food is great and priced right. One time we went spent 31 dollars on a 2 entrees,appetizer,salad,3 rum and coke, and 4 glasses of wine. Also make sure you don't let some of the restaurants take advantage of you by giving you the Americano menu instead of the one Cubans use. It didn't happen to us but on our flight back several people told us this. Also I would suggest bringing paper toilet seat covers for the bathroom as well as some toilet paper because these items are scarce or non existent. To my fellow Americans I just suggest be open minded when coming to the apartment and Havana. This is not a modern apt like back home but for me I absolutely loved the apartment. The neighborhood is extremely safe because I walked around by myself at night several times. I suggest learning some Spanish because cab drivers will definitely try to take advantage of you. Also always carry exact change because taxis will always claim they don't have change.Clarita has a son Jose whom speaks English and you can set up a tour of Havana with him. He is very informative about the history and culture of Havana. Clarita can also set up a driver for 25 cuc to pick you up once you get outside but its a modern car. You should not pay more than 25 cuc for a cab to the apartment so if you want to get in one of those classic convertibles, remember that. All and all I had a great time at the apartment and recommend staying here.

Lovely view. Simple, clean and safe. Perfect for us. The king-sized bed is of the low, firm variety, which we liked. We didn't end up using the AC or the big TV in the bedroom. It was too distracting to hang out on the private balcony, in the beautiful wrought iron rockers, watching the waves and the people. There is a wifi spot on the corner below--if you have an ETESCA card and stand on the outermost corner of the balcony, you might be able to get a signal. We don't speak any Spanish, but Clarita is so adept at communicating, we were fine. She keeps an eye on things without being intrusive--a total sweetheart. On Valentine's Day she put out flowers for us. We hired her English speaking son José for a day as a guide--that was definitely the highlight of our week. There is a cafeteria next door for a quick breakfast. Taking private taxis everywhere can add up fast--next time we'll learn a bit of Spanish and follow the advice of our hosts and locals for getting cheaper fares.

The best part of this apartment is the amazing view & balcony-- perfect for watching the sunset. Inside, the apartment is spacious with basic furnishings. Our host was extremely sweet and friendly but spoke very little english so bring your Spanish skills!

I am a friendly woman who likes living in family above all. I like arts very much, not only Ballet which I studied for 9 years, but also music, visual arts and of course the cinema. My husband and I are happily married in part thanks to a similar life motto. We lived in Ecuador for two years and enjoyed interacting with such an old and rich culture. We enjoy making people feel happy and give them a bit more than what they expect from us.
