The cottage (COD. CITRA 011015-LT-1297) is located high on a precipitous hillside in a tiny rural village, it’s all overgrown with vines, olive and fig trees, rosemary and wild flowers. The views from the cottage are breath-taking and it is peaceful and very remote. It’s a fascinating insight a by-gone era of rural livelihoods.....

The space
Clung to the coast that from Portovenere leads to Riomaggiore the house seems suspended between sky and sea .....a unique position with a view that takes your breath away. When the days are clear you can see the Tuscan archipelago islands (Elba, Capraia and Gorgona), Corsica Island and the west coast of Liguria. This place seems to go back in time and review the past of the Cinque Terre made of rural houses surrounded by the mediterranean bush and by vineyards laboriously and carefully cultivated by farmers. The days here seem to have no end because the sun sets in the sea right in front of these coasts extending the natural light till night. In front of the house there is a centenary fig tree that with its twisted branches seems to tell you the story of the world, when you were not yet born but it was already there to watch the crystal clear sea that merges with the blue of the sky, to listen to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky coast and to smell the scent of thyme, oregano and rosemary carried by the wind.

Tramonti House is a typical two-storey Ligurian rural house of 50 m² which is entirely made by local stone with a sea view balcony and a spacious veranda with garden. On the ground floor there is the kitchen and the dining area with a cozy fireplace and upstairs there is a bedroom that can comfortably accommodate two people and the bathroom. The shower, wide and made entirely of stone, is located in the outdoor veranda and it is surrounded by a hedge of fragrant jasmine and an olive tree. There is an area behind the house with a well-maintained lawn, aromatic plants and a beautiful sundeck equipped with cushions and partially tented over where guests can relax watching the landscape. The house has been built in full compliance with the characteristics and the rules of the National Park of Cinque Terre, therefore the power supply (12 voltz) is made through solar panel, the water for the shower is heated by a boiler fueled by gas while the water for domestic use it is not heated. For ecological reasons, the toilet has got a manual flush through a small shower actioned by an on/off tap, its easy use will be explained carefully on the day of your arrival.

Where you’ll be

Schiara, (SP), Italy

While the rest of the world landed on the moon, danced the swing and discovered the miniskirt, here until the 60’s there were no roads and the Cinque Terre, a territory just over ten kilometers long that the poet Eugenio Montale called "the place where people fish for the grapes ", proceeded slowly, condemned to the same factor that then decreed their fame: the verticality. Thus, while the small villages with the crib houses grew in height between the mountains and the sea, the vineyards grew on the terraces that cut off the coast horizontally, supported by dry walls extending for 6,740 km. The Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an ancient world of 45 hectares made of vineyards, marine orchards, roebucks where the fig, the lentic, the euphorbia and the cork oak are here and there. Here the silence is broken only by the voice of the sea whose sight is always present, almost intoxicating..........

Tramonti House is part of a group of rural houses overlooking the rocky coastline that goes from Portovenere to Riomaggiore; in the little village of Schiara there are no residents but only tourists and farmers who daily reach the vineyards in order to cultivate and preserve the territory. In the village of Schiara there are no shops and the only meeting point is a small church overlooking the sea where during summertime is celebrated the St. Anthony’s feast. The closest shops and restaurants are in the village of Biassa which is about twenty-five minutes by car from the house.

Hi everybody !! My name is Saverio and I would like to tell you a lot of things about me and I don’t know how can I start……First of all I am very fond of nature and I like living outdoor, in fact hiking, cycling and submarine fishing are my favourite activities. I like talking to people, learning their stories and interacting with different cultures. I lived and worked abroad and I am used to adapt my way of life to all situations so my favorite motto is: "Don’t worry, keep calm!". I love listening to music of all kinds, even if I prefer the Latin-American singers but I also love the silence, perhaps with a book of poems by Federico García Lorca. I like cooking all the typical Italian dishes but also paella, cous-cous or la tarte de Saint Tropez ...I think that food is a pleasant and enjoyable way to know the various cultures in the world. If I had the opportunity to reborn I would like to be a cat because, according to the poet Pablo Neruda, “el gato, sólo el gato apareció completo y orgulloso: nació completamente terminado, camina solo y sabe lo que quiere” (the cat, only the cat, appeared complete and proud: he was created completely finished, he walks alone and knows what he wants). Ciao a tutti!!
