The facility itself is a branch of the Taichūan temple in Kyoto and the spacious 3 story structure houses eight guests comfortably. In the summer you can enjoy a peaceful BBQ or swim at the river that flows through the front of the property.

The space

Far away from the centre of Kyoto, Yase Betsuin is surrounded by the ancient nature and tranquility. This is the place where you will be satisfied with the traditional Japanese elegance. Please relax yourself with the sound of the small stream, and the seasonal flowers and plants.

There are three floors in Yase Betsuin: the ground floor, the second floor and the basement. In the living room on the ground floor a fridge, microwave, and electric pot are provided. The washrooms are also on the ground floor. A specious bedroom is on the second floor (In winter the bedroom is on the ground floor). There is an altar room in the bedroom and where you can pray. There is a washing machine and a bathroom in the basement. You can also enjoy the ancient style bathtub called Goemon-buro, (*Please refer to the manual how to use the facilities which we send to you after you book")

Surrounding environments

Yase area is referred to as the inner room of Kyoto. The area is famous for its beautiful streams, and the abundant nature. This is the departure place for Mt. Hiei, and also the peaceful tourist spot where you can enjoy barbecuing by the river, drawing, etc…

Takano-gawa river runs behind Taichuan Yase Betsuin, and goes south to the centre of Kyoto along the national route 367. In Yase area, the river is also called Yase-gawa river. Kyoto’s rivers are often described as “Y” shape, and the river is the upper right part. You can easily access to the stream from the back of Taichuan. The stream quietly runs through the beautiful trees, and your heart will be healed just sitting by the stream.

The departure place of Mt. Hiei “Yase Hieizan-guchi station”

Yase Hieizan-guchi station is the closest station of Taichuan Yase Betsuin, and also the terminal station of Eizan Electric Railway, Eizan Main Line. Not only the railway enthusiasts, but also regular tourist will want to take pictures of its old wooden station, and the unique dome-shaped roof. It is located out of the western gate to Mt. Hiei like it says on the sign at the station. If you go out from the station, and cross the wooden bridge, then go ahead about 300m, there is Eizan cable railway station which goes to the top of the mountain.
