About this listing
Charming 1920s home w/ large front and back porches tucked away in an established and safe neighborhood bordering Ft Bragg to provide quick base access while being 2 minutes from the main expressway and 5 minutes from IMAX movie theater, mall and restaurants, and 10 miles from the FAY airport.
I hope to welcome you to my restored 1928 farmhouse, the namesake of my neighborhood, the Cottonade. The Cottonade is the closest neighborhood to the Fort Bragg Army Base. This unique home offers simplistic southern charm with an inviting front porch and its large oak trees. The home has been extensively updated throughout. Your upstairs bedroom is painted in relaxing pale blue tones and holds a queen size bed. It is immediately adjoining to the bathroom equipped with a shower.
You'll also have access to the remaining of the home to include the gourmet kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. You'll enjoy the beautiful hardwood floors, the fireplaces (fires are always welcome in the winter time :)), the large screened porch, and the brick patio overlooking the outdoor fire oven. So whether inside or out you'll get to enjoy a wonderful view of the 1.5 acres of peaceful outdoor space.
(If you have more than two in your party, if it is available you may book them in my second bedroom listed under the following listing: Country home n city near Bragg/hwy1 listed at https://airbnb.com/rooms/7303225?s=8. It may be furnished with one king or two twin size beds, depending on your preference.)
Pets are authorized on a selective case by case basis - a one time additional and non-reimbursable fee of $20 is placed per dog if they do not get on furniture. Cats are only allowed if my dog is not present and are assessed a total of $50 cleaning fee, as well as dogs allowed to sleep on bedding.
Written notification for additional guests staying the night is required; Oral notification of visitors is requested.
Smoking is strictly limited to outside smoking! Do not throw your cigarette butts inside the home. Please use outside trash can. Notice: be careful of the long step onto pavers if stepping out of the covered porch into the back yard.
You may use the washer and drier but must provide your own laundry soap and detergent. A complimentary load is included per stay. Follow on use of washer/dryer is $2
I'm putting the money from your stay towards my home restoration / improvement - my current projects are replacing the front doors lock back to their original, replacing the laundry room's window, and eventually repairing the covered porch's screens. The final list is much longer...If projects are fun and relaxing to you feel free to play along - Handy people are always welcome ;)
At this time access to the covered screened-in porch is limited until I can figure out how to finish a few projects. If you're planning an exterior event please let me know...
I'll have tea available for you. For the coffee lovers, I do not share your passion but if you bring coffee/pods I will have a French press and Hamilton beach coffee pot that accepts pods. You'll have complete access to the house with exception to my bedroom. However, if I'm not home you may change your reservation to rent my favorite space in the house: the master bedroom and its enclosed master bathroom with walk-in double headed shower ($15 extra per night/ separate listing).
The TV (located in your room) is limited to Netflix or Amazon prime and other channels found on my Roku box - you'll however be able to watch your Hulu plus account and most other internet based programming thru access to my wifi.
You may use the washer and drier but must provide your own laundry soap and detergent. If you do not have your own soap or dryer sheets some will be available for $2.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask - I work full time but I'll get back to you as soon as possible!
Interaction with guests
I work long hours so I will not be very eligible on the weekdays- however, if I'm home and you're the social type ;) I'll be happy to speak with you and recommend some local restaurants/activities (I'm working on my guidebook...). I'll respect your boundaries regardless.
The house is situated near the end of a dead end street in a safe and established neighborhood with lots of lovely vegetation - I didn't realize NC had seasons until I moved here from my very new subdivision. It's also very centrally located with easy access to the base, the highway, the malls, and restaurant. I relocated here because I hate driving long distances but also don't enjoy the bustle of the city. Here I'm near everything all the while being away from the noisier parts of town. It works out perfectly :)
I feel very safe walking around the neighborhood which I recommend to my guests. If you want an extra layer of protection my dog will happily volunteer to show you around...
The mall (2.9 miles) and most popular dining options are within a 4 mile radius.
For guests requiring transportation:

- the Fayetteville Amtrak (11 miles) and Greyhound stations both drop off in/near downtown Fayetteville
And if all fails and I'm around I'll try my best to accommodate you :)
Other things to note
This is an older house - as such, when using the microwave and the water kettle at the same time may trip the circuit breaker which also has the refrigerator. If that happens the circuit breaker box is located outside near the dog house. Reset the breaker labeled refrigerator, and restart the fridge - everything else will restart automatically.
When she is not exiled to Texas due to my training/deployments, you must not mind my small, friendly(but mostly well-behaved ) dog whose access to the house is restricted to the first floor and will not go up to the bedrooms. She does not jump on people (pet peeve of mine)!
I ask for you to be respectful of my house - if it doesn't belong to you please don't take it when you leave.
Floors: the hardwood floors are original to the home - help me keep them nice by avoiding stilettos and other items that might damage them - also if it doesn't roll please don't drag it across.
Parking: I have a long circular driveway that can accommodate three cars coming in and out - please keep vehicles parked on it or on the street if you have an extended party.
Lights: In the house please turn unnecessary lights off when retiring for the night or leaving for the day.
Kitchen: help yourself around the kitchen - however if you use a lot of an item or finish it (spices, foil...) please replace it.
Laundry: please be sure to purchase your own detergent, dryer sheets, and softener.
But overall please just make yourself at home!

I'm a military officer - I love traveling, discovering new places, new experiences, tasting delicious food and meeting new people. I've enjoyed the more realistic feel airbnb gives to traveling and look forward to continuing my exchanges while letting others come see what my little piece of the world is like. Opening my home has been such a rewarding experience and I've truly enjoyed meeting my various guests - all so unique one from the other. To new discoveries!
Mes amis francophones j'aurai grand plaisir à partager ma maison et mes chambres d'hôte si jamais vous veniez découvrir Fayetteville NC, la seule des "Fayetteville" visitée par le Marquis! :)
