The house is a cozy and bright artist's bungalow in the heart of historic Mount Dora within walking distance of downtown and the many restaurants, galleries, boutiques. I travel quite a bit and am in Maine during the summer and fall but my friend and Resident Host, Elaine, will be there to greet you and will be available to you at any time during your stay.

Guests have access to the entire house, including kitchen and laundry. Shaded patio and back yard are also open to guests. The garage is used for host’s personal storage and is not open to guests.

Interaction with guests

Guests are free to come and go at any time. Elaine, who lives in the neighborhood, will always be available to assist with any needs. Guests will have complete privacy during their time at the house.

Other things to note

In addition, for fishing and sporting fans there is Lake Dora, on the famous
Florida Harris Chain of Lakes! The house, with private parking for a boat and car is just a few blocks from the Mount Dora landing and Marina! You can launch your boat within minutes after breakfast and be on your way to the interconnected Harris Chain of Lakes.

The lakes are a fisherman and boaters paradise. Local bass fishing tournaments are held on a weekly basis and the Harris Chain is now a popular stop on the ESPN B.A.S.S. Tournament Trail with its great fishing highlighted on many outdoor TV shows.

With so much water to explore, you never get tired of finding out what's around the next corner. A popular day trip is to boat north from Lake Griffin to visit the famous Silver Springs in Ocala. The round trip can be completed in one day and it is well worth the effort. And you can be back at the house for dinner or to visit the Mount Dora Brewing Company and restaurant right next door!

Mount Dora is also only 35 minutes from Disney World!

Dan's cottage was amazing. We loved it so much we booked another week. Clean, quiet, and close to everything. Would recommend this place to everyone.

Dan has a lovely place - a nicely renovated 1920s bungalow. Colorful, comfortable and cozy. It feels very "Florida," too. The resident host Elaine made checkin/checkout super easy. We walked through Mt Dora to a neighborhood with lots of shops and restaurants. We had an incredible Indian meal at Shiva the first night. We also checked out the restaurant that's half a block away, at Mt Dora Brewing Co. Great food & live music. We had a wonderful 2-day stay with Dan's place as the perfect home base.

The cottage is everything that is described and shown on the website and even though we didn't get to meet Dan we were very well taken care by Elaine. The cottage is beautiful and cozy, very centrally located and a short drive to downtown Mount Dora. We definitely recommend it. We will be back!

We contacted Dan the day following our arrival from the UK as we had been let down by a hotel in Tavares. Dan and Elaine responded promptly and accepted our booking. The house was perfect for us (couple and a 4yo boy) as it is very spacious with two big double bedrooms, and a great kitchen/dining/living space. The house is a few minutes away from beautiful lake Dora. There is also a great playground for kids and the town with all amenities and shops is at a walking distance away. We contacted Dan and Elaine to extend our stay by a few days and again their response was prompt and courteous. We loved the bungalow and we'll definitely consider requesting to book it again if we go back to Florida.

This house is perfectly charming, clean, well stocked, comfortable and a good location. We really enjoyed the muffins, juice and coffee that were provided. We were not expecting that and it saved us a trip to the store. All communication was perfect and the price was right. Would definitely stay here again for sure.
