Interaction with guests
It's up to the guest. I am happy to offer my suggestions for navigating NY public transit, local coffee, food and restaurant tips, (I'm a food person who has lived in NY for 22 years, so I have a fairly lengthy list of recommendations) Or, if you prefer to take the key and have no interaction, that's no problem. The apartment is naturally divided so it's easy to stay and not see each other, at all. You're the guest, the style of trip you want is completely up to you. If you need help, though, I'm always here to offer directions. My goal is to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible.
I welcome all religions, races, and cultures and offer a safe haven for gay men and women.
Williamsburg, Brooklyn is one of the hotter, hipper and exciting neighborhoods in New York with the best restaurants and cafés right here. But if you want to go to Manhattan it's 15 minutes via subway or cab. There is a full service supermarket with pre-prepared food, or fresh produce, within one block from the apartment called City Acres Market. Breakfast biscuits and eggs or good coffee can be had right across the street, at Marlow and Sons. The host has a list with many dining suggestions, so don't hesitate to ask if you need recommendations!
The closest subway (10 minute walk) is the J M Z stop at Marcy Avenue. But you can also walk to the L in the heart of W'burg, at Bedford Avenue, (15-20 minutes walk). There is also a water ferry, close by. Taxi's, Uber, etc. It's also fun to walk over the Williamsburg bridge to the city, or ride a Citi bike over into the city, or around W'burg. The nearest Citi bike stand is just outside the building. There are also buses, and the G train, is within walking distance if you want to go from one side of Brooklyn, to the other, or into Queens. Host is happy to order car service to the airport for you, or subway directions if you prefer to go that route.
Other things to note
Check-in is flexible, but needs to be communicated and confirmed in advance of arrival.
Checkout is strictly 11am, at the latest. But you are welcome to leave bags downstairs at any time, before you check in, or after you check out, again with advanced communication.
While this is Brooklyn, this is still very much New York, which is a vibrant, bustling city that whirls into action pretty early in the morning, so if sleeping in till Noon on a week-day in a tranquil setting is your thing, this might not be your place! Right now there is minor construction on the outer exterior of the building on weekdays, but the noise is minimal and then only during working weekday hours when you'll likely be out exploring the neighborhood and city. Because of this, the room is not set up, or really ideal to be used as a weekday home office.
* No pets. *Strictly No Smoking. *This is one room, with one bed, for one guest only.
Quiet and respectful. This is a comfortable, safe, building. Would suit a low-key, independent, mature, possibly professional, solo traveler. * No pets, No Smoking, No parties.
CHECK-IN: is flexible, *but* needs to be communicated and confirmed well in advance. I'm willing to accommodate late arrivals and early arrivals (ie. Redeyes), no problem, but again, needs to be confirmed in advance of booking.
CHECK-OUT IS 11AM—but you are welcome to leave bags downstairs at any time, before you check in, or after you check out, again with advanced communication.
It would be appreciated if you leave shoes near the front door, to help keep the place clean.
