Private, spacious room & all home amenities for a relaxing stay. Comfy king-sized bed & optional, comfy twin roll-away. Make yourself at home in friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Staying here is like staying with friends but without the social obligations :). You'll likely find yourself on your own in the house much of the time, but we'll be there if you need us. Muddy cyclists welcomed! Cover photo was taken from top of Burke Mountain looking toward our neck of the woods.
Your private room has a really comfortable king-sized bed, soft flannel sheets, down comforters, WiFi, streaming Netflix, optional a/c, fan, closet, iron, and bureau space. It's located on the second floor. There's also a surprisingly comfortable roll-away twin bed.
It's a great old house (216 years!) with exposed hand-hewn beams and wide-plank floors. The screened/glassed porch is terrific for relaxing with a glass of wine, having a cup of tea for breakfast, curling up with a book, etc. in warmer months and sometimes on sunny winter days. Out back, sit around the fire pit and do some star gazing. (You're welcomed to choose to sleep on the porch on a comfy full/sized fluffed up futon).
You're welcomed and encouraged to use the kitchen, dining room, porch, living rooms, bathroom, and yard as if it were your own home. Shampoos, soaps, lotions, first aid, books, etc., all gladly shared. Fresh towels always at the ready for home and beach.
Please come and go as you wish. Out late? Up early? No problem.
You can make your own meals or share anything we're having. Juice, teas, fruit and breads at the very least will be ready for breakfast; snacks & cold/hot beverages always available. Bicycles may be brought right onto the porch if you wish. Use the refrigerator; feel free to poke around to find spices or any food/beverages you need.
Interaction with guests
While I'm always happy to chat, your privacy and desire for your own time and space will be respected. It's likely you'll have the house to yourself sometimes, but I will be available by phone.
Other things to note
We have a friendly dog, and while all spaces are cleaned and vacuumed, those with allergies should take note. For groups of more than 3, let's talk; we may be able to make that happen! The dog has a pretty good bark on her when you roll into the driveway, but she is a very gentle girl.
We don't want you to feel like you have to tiptoe around the house, but we will also give you all the peace and quiet you desire. Come and go as you wish. Children of all ages are very welcome! Many generations of children have been raised safely in this house, but please note care must be taken around stairs and wood stove.
