About this listing
In the old, most central part of the former village of Valby is our house. Private garden with trampoline, swings, playhouse, and fireplace. Free parking (private driveway), ten minutes walk to Copenhagen Zoo. Super light and open space. Eleven minutes bus to the Central Station. Ten minutes to the entire Carlsberg Area and hip neighborhood Vesterbro. A villa with private garden is very unusual to find this centrally placed in Copenhagen. The top location gives an easy and relaxed city trip.
Our home is a super blend of a villa with private garden, roof terrace, lots of space, and a city loft with skyline through the windows and few minutes on bike or by bus to the best neighbourhoods of Copenhagen; Vesterbro, Carlsberg, and the City. The home is super child friendly. (We have trolleys for kids, that you are free to use to get around town.) The house consists of the two top stories of a 1923 villa, one floor with the large open living room, kitchen and dining space, the two children's rooms, two bathrooms, one with jacuzzi and shower, the other with washing machine and dryer. The second floor is the top floor with our work space and our bedroom with a twin bed. We had the roof completely renewed, and during that work we opened up to the original construction, stripped the old rafters, so one side of the house is now completely open with twelve windows to the south and sun pouring in all day. The lofty feeling of open, light space is great, and at the same time, it's a private villa with private entrance, private garden with a large trampoline (4,5 meters in diameter), swings, and fireplace, cherry trees and raspberry bushes giving berries all summer, and three separate bedrooms around all the shared space. There's a fully equipped modern kitchen with Smeg stove, microwave, coffee grinder, toaster, good knives, all you need in pots and pans etc. We love our home and have always put a lot of love and time into decorating, making it fun and safe for kids, and a wonderful place for people to chill. We have Sonos music system so you can listen to a large variety of music while staying here.
Our guests have access to everything, all parts of the house, when they stay here. We are all out of the house so everything is a private home for our guests, but we often stay in the area of Copenhagen so we can come by in case our guests need help with anything.
The house is ten minutes by foot from the Copenhagen Zoo, and there are nice shops, cafées and restaurants in the area. New shops and restaurants are opening by the minute now, great coffee places and sushi restaurants are located few streets away.
For even more and great café life, shopping and night life, we'd recommend to go to Vesterbro, which is our next door neighbourhood. Five minutes by bike or bus, and you're there. If you walk for twenty minutes, you're in Carlsberg/Vesterbro, which is the best place in Copenhagen to be for hanging out, eating, shopping, and culture events.
Valby is the super cosy place to stay right next to the more happening Vesterbro, so it's ideal, if you want to get home easily, but actually be able to get a bit away from the center of things at night. And of course if you have children, so that it's actually nice to move some minutes away from the busy streets of Vesterbro for the night.
Our park is Søndermarken, huge trees and picnic atmosphere, runners, dog walkers and scouts, people hanging out with a beer or a bottle of white wine in the sun. Strollers, playing children, snow or sun, and beautiful nature. It's the wildest of the Copenhagen parks, not so neat and organized. You walk two streets from our house, and you're there.
If you have children or just like the possibility of drawing back a bit, it's absolutely perfect to stay in Valby. You're close to everything, there are busses and trains going everywhere from the corners around our house, and the Zoo is perfectly placed right next door.
