We have a three story A-frame in a small forest in southern Lancaster County. You get the entire downstairs area which has a separate entrance, private bathroom, sitting area, bedroom, and limited kitchen (refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and coffee/tea kettle). The surrounding area is rural, peaceful and quiet. Lancaster City is 15 miles to the north, Philadelphia 60 miles to the east, and Baltimore 60 miles to the south. Please read the Disclaimer below BEFORE you book.

The space

We are renting a small suite. There is a separate sitting area with a propane fireplace*, and a unique private bath (look at the pictures). The space is on the lower level. It faces out to a patio and forest which you can see from inside through the glass doors. DISCLAIMER -- PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK -- (1) Because we are in a small forest in southern Lancaster County, there is almost no TV, just one channel; (2) The wifi is slow, 1.3 mbps; (3) There is no cooking in the room or use of any kitchen facilities in the main house; there is a refrigerator, a freezer, a microwave, and a coffee/tea kettle, but not a regular range top stove; (4) In the winter the guest area is heated with a coal stove which requires us to shake the ash and add coal two times a day, usually at 7:30 am (sometimes later on weekends) and 6-7 pm when we get home from work; (5) *When the coal stove is operating, you cannot also use the fireplace, both cannot be operating at the same time; and (6) If any of the foregoing is not to your liking -- if you want 101 cable TV channels, blazing internet speed, a kitchen in your room, and/or heat but not by a coal stove -- you might want to consider a different Airbnb

Guest access

Guests have access to their space from a separate private entrance (we use another door). Guest also have access to a ground level patio which is directly outside of their room, and a first floor deck. Both face into the forest. Please note that the entrance to the guest area is at the rear of the property and you need to walk on a path that is lined with large stones (see photo). It is not accessible by wheelchair or the walking impaired. If any questions about this, just send a message via Airbnb

Interaction with guests

Generally we work Monday through Friday from 8 or 9 am to 6 pm, however one of us can be available if needed

Other things to note

(1) We have a small dog. When we have Airbnb guests, we keep him on the third level (you are on the first level). You probably won't even know he is there. (2) Neighbors on one side have two twenty-something boys who have big pick-up trucks that sometimes go up the driveway fast and noisy. It is not often, and lasts for 30 seconds, but we make this disclaimer since we advertise our rental as "Quiet Forest Setting" (which it is 99.99% of the time).

A part of me wants to share with the whole World this amazing find within the Bed and Breakfast Community but there is this certain inner selfish feeling of not letting this small slice of heaven out to the public so I can return and enjoy its pleasures whenever I desire. Whether being surprised with a glass of wine, aroused by the homemade treats or delighted with an array of international foods this experience could not have been better scripted in a dreamland's storybook tale. To start our experience, we drove into the heart of the Lancaster PA Amish countryside of Fall crops ready for harvest to find a little patch of woodlands secluded like an Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole. As you enter this world within a world you are overtaken by the beauty of the natural surrounding and having your breath taken away by the museum qualities of the living quarter's themselves. Our host has taken the lower portion of an A-framed country house and turned it into a magical treasure of worldly artifacts that suit one's ever imaginable taste. Be it the fireplace with it Eastern European copper kettles and hanging pot, the wall of Worldly travel art from the Orient or the bathroom's open shower with homemade soap bars from the Mother Country filling it with Spring smells.......every portion of the spacious area is filled with care and a homely filling that everyone should indulge in once in a lifetime. Finally, there was the lady of the house who becomes like a friend you have known all your life but have never met. From the moment, she greets you at the drive to the minute you part her company your life is about to experience the true meaning of peace on Earth. All her prepared foods are homemade ventures taken from her vast experiences of traveling to all corners of the World. Her delight in serving you is as rare a treat as you will ever find and her friendship is as natural as the beauty of the surrounding country side you reside. I recommend this little gem to someone who takes nothing for granted and seeks the most fulfilling experience short of magical....... Watch out for the falling acorns.......

This couple is opening their home because they love people and want to bless others. This is not a cold and disengaged rental but a cozy welcome into a home and a friendship. They were careful to respect our privacy while warmly serving us. The suite was roomy, comfortable, clean, and intriguing. The bathroom was spa-like, and the woodland setting was peaceful. We are already planning our next visit to our new friends.

My sister and I stayed here the night before the annual KTA Challenge in nearby Susquahannock State Park. It's a beautiful place in a beautiful area, unique, charming, and comfortable. We loved the Russian breakfast Marina cooked and served to us in traditional lacquered Russian bowls and plates! Her description of it is very accurate. She and her husband completed the amazing stone work in the bathroom using stones from the property. We hope to stay longer next time.

Our stay here was excellent. Marina goes above and beyond as a gracious, generous, thoughtful host. The first-floor apartment is beautiful and accurately described in words and pictures on the profile. This is truly a great deal with a great host if you are traveling in the Lancaster area.

This place is unique, spotlessly clean and comfy and you should feel fortunate if you are able to book it to stay there. The home is tastefully decorated full of treasures from countries all over the world. Marina is a fantastic host, attentive, gracious and the breakfast provided is beyond one's wildest expectations. If I may suggest to future guests: please be kind and take your shoes off (bring indoor slippers).

When we arrived we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy A-frame cottage nestled in the woods of Quarryville. Inside we experienced a trip around the world with an eclectic collection of treasures from around the world. From homemade soaps to authentic Russian breakfasts we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our only regret is that our schedule did not allow us to spend more time with our delightful hosts. If you are ever in this neck of the woods we highly recommend staying with Mirina. This was our first airbnb stay and Marina has set the bar very high for other airbnbs!

Marina & Robert were the best hosts that I have ever had at an AirBnB. There home is truly a gem, their hospitality was second to none, and their gracious generosity was spectacular. I look forward to returning to the peace of nature at their home in the near future. Book here, you won't regret it.

I was born in Russia, came to the US in 2001, and have learned English. I am married, and we have four children, who are now grown and living on their own. We discovered Airbnb as a result of our travels to different countries. I have now been able to visit 48 different countries, and I hope to add more to that number.
