The neighbourhood

Shin Okubo is one station next to Shinjuku, and, from the house, you can get to central Shinjuku with 15-20 min walk. Shin Okubo is known as Asian/Korean town in Tokyo. Very lively with restaurants and shops, and at the same time, it's residential area if you get one step from the main street.

- 3-min from Shin Okubo station on JR Yamanote Line
- 3- min from Okubo station North Exit on JR Sobu Line. If you get off from the South Exit where there's no elevator and train staff, it is 1-m walk
- 15-20min walk from central Shinjuku area

[From Narita Airport]
Take Limousine Bus or Narita Express train to Shinjuku, and then take JR Yamanote Line to Shin-Okubo. From Shin-Okubo station, it's only 3-min walk.

If you prefer to save money, there's also bus from Narita to Tokyo station. You can take JR Chuo Line from Tokyo to Shinjuku, and then take Sobu Line to Okubo North Exit.

I reached out to Donghun (Lee) two weeks prior to our reservation. He suggested I download the app Line so we could communicate easily. He had to use a translator app so sometimes things translated a little bit off but in general I always understood, or I asked for clarification. The house was pretty much what I expected. the lounging area is a bit tight as most buildings in Japan are very tiny and you have to make the best of your space. The mattress wasn't the most comfortable mattress ever but I was able to deal with it. We came as a group of 12 and rented the whole place out. Lee had a room connected on the bottom floor and if you need him he is around during the day. He works at nights. He never invaded our spaces. We didn't understand how to turn the heater on so I messaged him on the Line app and he responded promptly. We aren't used to flash heaters in America so we didn't know you need to push a button to turn the hot water on in the shower. Once we asked Lee he showed us promptly. We forgot towels but the house has some and Lee stayed onto of Laundry. It was a great price especially for such a large group. It was very easy to get to the train and there were a ton of shops very close by. This is the Korea town area of Tokyo and there is a ton of stuff nearby. We really enjoyed our stay.

If you are travelling as a group or want a private place this is not the place we would recommend. You will have to share 1 bathroom with 16 people since this is a shared room. Host only allows 15 minutes maximum when using the bathroom. Rooms do not have locks. He switched the heater while we were sleeping. Threatened to penalize us. Water closet buttons are not working. He isnt very accomodating. Rooms are not the same as advertised. We were 7 in a group, He tried to fit in 6 people in one small room. The others had to stay in the sala with diffefent people with them.No space for luggages.

First time in Tokyo so did not know what to expect about the area and its surroundings. I was very pleased with what I saw. The house firstly is only one stop train stop away from Shinjuku which is a very popular area in Tokyo. The house its self was spotless and Ken could not have been a better host in making me feel welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone who is staying near Shinjuku or just in Tokyo in general.

First, the positive points: Perfect location, fast WiFi. The negative points: We complained to Airbnb, Airbnb checked the messages, they are returning back my money. Justice is served. on short answer: poor communication, inaccurate address, refusal to find a solution. Inaccurate amenities list. apartment is not as shown on the photos. On the day of the arrival, we checked after appx 2hrs. Inaccurate address, his phone was switched off because he's not in Japan. We looked for WiFi in some restaurants and messaged him, he sent his friend to pick us up and walked us to the apartment. His friend was not helpful at all. The apartment is very very small. we booked this shared apartment based on photo No. 2 & 3 .. instead we got a room on the 3rd floor that barely fit two persons. He added two more beds in that room for the four of us. there was no space for our luggage. We asked him to move to the 2nd floor which was the room on photo No. 2 & 3. He didn't reply properly. Inaccurate amenities. - The washer machine is not working, we didn't know until we checked in, we asked if there's laundry around. he literally replied "The house is right near". I don't know what's that supposed to mean. - No body explained to us how to use the hot water, we suffered during the shower in this cold season . - The A/C was not working, we needed it to warm the room a bit.
