This historical Arts & Crafts home offers a special touch to your gathering in this quaint Dutch town. Centrally located just one block off the main street and across from the Courthouse.
This 1912 Craftsman home combines the modern conveniences of the 21st Century with the solid elegance of the 20th. As an historical Arts and Crafts Home in Orange City, IA, it is included in the Tulip Festival Trolley Tour each year. The beautiful stones were hauled from the California Kern River by train. The Steinway Grand B Parlor Piano, Waltham Grandfather Clock and African Mahogany Dining Set are all original purchases made by its 1912 owners, Wells and Johanna Short.
We welcome you into this historical home for an unforgettable stay.
You will have access to the entire home; main floor (2 bedrooms (1 of which has a flat screen TV for Netflix and Amazon) and 1 bathroom, living room and kitchen), 2nd floor (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) and basement, which has two twin beds, Ping-Pong table, darts, play area and laundry. We look forward to sharing our special home with your family!
Interaction with guests
We are available by phone and text for any questions or concerns that arise. You will be checking in and out on your own but we are available by phone.
We will not be in the home during your visit. We travel to and from Orange City for Ken's work and we make the whole home available to others during this time. We have an in-town manager should any emergency arise.
Other things to note
*Please take extra care of the 100-year-old antiques, as they really are irreplaceable. It's amazing that they are still here, as good as ever. We feel as if we are caretakers rather than homeowners of this special place.
*Also, we request that you take off your shoes in the mudroom in order to protect the white carpeting throughout the home. Thanks!
*We do allow parties but they MUST be discussed with us ahead of time. There is a limitation on the number of guests allowed at your gathering.
*Please remove your shoes in Mud Room
*No Smoking Inside or Outside the home
*Please keep your noise down to normal level
*Careful around antiques please!
*Trash/Recyclables - Please place them out at curb only on the morning of pickup - not the night before. We have trouble with wildlife and storms. Thanks!
