Great location
90% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Thorndon House Garden Room is a light and airy room, with its own entrance, separate from the main house. The Garden Room is self contained with an ensuite (power shower), kitchen area with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee facilities (no cooker/hob). We are in a beautiful rural location, yet only 4 miles from Exeter city life! Stunning views of the Culm Valley from the garden. Ideal location if you fancy wild swimming or country walks. Courtyard view from the bedroom.

The space
The Garden Room is a spacious room (own entrance and handy hallway) with two lovely windows overlooking the courtyard. It is light and airy and very comfortably accommodates 2 people and possibly 3 if you have a child ( easily big enough for a travel cot or a single mattress for an older child / adult but of course floor space reduces). The Garden Room is part of Thorndon House which was formerly a rectory built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The Garden Room has a comfy double bed with fresh linen, a snuggle blanket, cushions and a table with two chairs and also a comfy armchair. There is a microwave in case you would like to cater for yourselves in the evening with a micro meal or a spud. Alternatively, do order my homemade aga pizzas (variety of flavours) and a pudding for £12.50 each. There is also a 32" TV for you to enjoy. The bathroom has a small sink, toilet and shower. Towels are provided. Tea and coffee facilities in each room with fresh milk (skimmed) in the fridge for your drinks and cereal. Breakfast is stored in the cupboards where you will find a small selection of cereals. There is a toaster in your room so please do bring any bread of your choice.
Some guests prefer a simple breakfast which is included in the cost. If you prefer a full cooked English Aga breakfast or alternatives please do ask for the menu choices before you arrive (@ £10 each). I will need at least 24 hours notice and subject to availability. I will always do my absolute best to meet your requests! X
There is no wardrobe but there are hooks and hangers for you to hang dresses, coats, jackets suits etc..
The room is in a fabulous location to go walking as there are miles and miles in all directions! There is a great walk along the River Exe to a wonderful pub The Agricultural Inn in Bramford Speke or if you are feeling energetic there are walks to Silverton village or Thorverton. The very local village pub "Stoke Canon Inn" has been visited by many guests who have all mentioned how friendly it was. Stoke Canon inn have regular entertainment and serve food but not on a Monday. The pub is only a half mile down the road so very walkable. I would be very happy to point you in the right direction if you fancy a good walk. Maybe even a walk to the National Trust Killerton House.
You have wifi in the room, however, it is slow at times. Wifi is available and you will find the password in the information booklet in your room.
Wifi reliability is typically rural and can be slow/ hit and miss sometimes.

Guest access
So sorry but the main garden is not accessible to guests. Being Covid aware. Xx

There is a parking area directly outside the entrance to the Garden Room. The room is accessed via a separate door to the main house. The door leads into a hallway whereby any coats, shoes, wellies and umbrellas can be stored after a good walk through the beautiful countryside, woods and rivers. We have an umbrella for you to use at your leisure and for your convenience.
The Garden Room is very private as it has it's own entrance so you are able to come and go as you please without being disturbed.

Other things to note
If you are worried about COVID 19 I would like to reassure all guests each room will be deep cleaned and I will supply hand gel sanitiser and anti bac wipes to use in the rooms. All contact will be kept to a minimum and I have face masks and gloves to use if and when needed.

You will find a few bits and bobs I have made myself or with my son in the room and/or hallway. All items are for sale and you may find them in local boutique shops as well. Please do take one as a gift or memento and leave the payment in the honesty box.

PIZZA
If you would like to order a homemade pizza for your evening meal please do message me.
Pizza and a pudding for £12

BREAKFAST
The room rate includes tea and coffee facilities, fresh milk in the fridge and a small choice of cereals and porridge in the cupboards. There is a toaster in the cupboard so you are very welcome to bring your own bread items to toast. I did used to supply a more luxurious breakfast choice but I was finishing myself throwing most of it away day after day. I decided to cut down and drop the prices a little.

We also have books and games in the cupboard if you wish to borrow them. If you have not yet finished a book then you are welcome to make a small donation to keep it.
If you would like to borrow the iron and ironing board please do just ask and one will be made available for you. I do not keep these items in your room as I feel you would prefer the extra space.
I hope we have thought of everything, if not, please do let me know what I have missed so i can improve our service. Thank you x

Rewe is a lovely village with very kind and friendly residents. We have stunning views over the countryside towards Killerton and the River Culm with a lovely stone bridge. During the late spring and summer months our closest neighbours are the dairy cows who often come and say hello at the fence until the children come out! We have plenty of lovely birds flying around!!
Wild swimming opportunities very close by! Very happy to point out a few local hot spots! X

We are a family, living the Devonshire life. We have a beautiful place with stunning countryside and river views. We enjoy the outside, great food and meeting friends. We are respectful to others and always consider others' needs. We love spending days at the beach or river walks, pub lunches and evening BBQ's or meals around the table in winter months. I love baking and so there may be a treat waiting in the room if I have made a fresh batch of goodies. We have three children from 8 years old to 14. They are all well training to be polite and helpful to all guests! Lol x
