Great Glen Yurts is an eco yurt camp located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands at the foot of Ben Nevis. The yurts and Shepherds Hut are well spaced out along a riverside spot with spectacular views of the whole of the North face of Ben Nevis.

The space

Great Glen Yurts is peaceful yurt camp set on our organic farm in the West Highlands, Scotland. At the foot of the North Face of Ben Nevis and a short ride from the legendary World Cup Mountain Bike tracks, the location near Fort William is a perfect base camp for adventures in the Scottish Highlands.

The Great Glen farm has plenty of woodland and riverside walks providing a perfect hunting ground for wild foraging and spotting wildlife. The farm is bordered by a 3 mile stretch of the river Lochy, a famous salmon fishing river with many secluded swimming spots.

Great Glen farms their very own Highland cows and Hebridean sheep, whilst also breeding adorable Highland Ponies, plus a herd of 14 beautiful riding horses of many different breeds.

The surrounding area includes wonderful Highland scenery of the Great Glen, Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis, Glenfinnan, Loch Linnhe and Glen Spean. The yurt camp makes a great base for exploring the local wilderness where you can enjoy great hillwalking, mountain biking, touring, kayaking and other activities.

A unique place to stay if you’re out hiking in the Glen Coe region. You’re close to nature with all the necessary comforts. We had a great time there even though we never got to see the host. She set everything up nicely. After a full day of hiking (in the cold), it’s nice to come back to clean sheets, a wood fire burning stove and communal shower with hot water. We enjoyed meeting the other yurt guests during dinner time, and cooking together in the communal kitchen.

We had a great stay in the Eagle Yurt! Such a gorgeous spot, and the yurt was very comfortable, warm and spacious. The communal kitchen was very useful, there was everything you need and it was nice to get to know the other guests that were staying at the same time. I cannot speak highly enough of this place, definitely worth a visit! I hope to be back, and would definitely stay here again if in the area. Thank you! :)

You won't get a better view of the north face of Ben Nevis without heading up the Allt a'Mhuilinn or a cooler place to enjoy it from! Our family all loved staying in the yurt - they are in a brilliant location (especially for getting onto the Ben, or biking at Nevis Range), and the field, backed by the woods and stream, was especially glorious in the spring sunshine and then in the evening with a fire going. But being able to retreat inside to the warmth of the stove and the cosy beds when the rain came on or the midges appeared was also great! And the kitchen setup was ideal too. Thanks very much.

Everything was exactly as it was described! I arrived in late afternoon, and it was clear where I needed to go to get settled. I met up with Julie a day later, and she was very kind and helpful for anything I might've needed. I'm pretty self-sufficient, but it was nice knowing she was around to help with anything! I'd definitely stay here again, and likely will for my next trip over!

I am inspired by dramatic landscapes and being active and in touch with my environment whether its swimming in freezing rivers, hiking in the mountains or growing vegetables in the soil. I am motivated by lifestyle not money which is why I choose to live in a beautiful part of the world. I want my children to experience wilderness and running free among nature.
