Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
The top floor in an historic (1914) Craftsman home on Capitol Hill, it's completely private and separate, but not technically an apartment. In a quiet, residential neighborhood, very conveniently located near many urban amenities - cafes, restaurants, bars, bus lines, parks, a natural food co-op, supermarket. Easy to get downtown, Pike/Pine area, Pike Place Market, the Seattle Center, the University of Washington, First Hill, and easy to walk to grocery stores, Volunteer Park and bus lines.

The space
There is a large bedroom and a small one, bathroom with tiled, heated floor and clawfoot tub. There is an area with all you need to make coffee, tea, toast and snacks or light meals. There is no stove/oven, but there is a microwave oven, toaster oven and electric kettle, and refrigerator. There is a view of the Cascades from the larger bedroom in the winter and green treetops in the summer, and lots of natural light throughout the space. The smaller bedroom has a south facing window, a small closet, but a large armoire for clothing. The main living space includes two sofas and a dining table. As an older Craftsman style house, it has a warm, lived-in feel, always clean and comfortable, with nice golden fir floors throughout the space.

Guest access
Guests have access to the whole top floor of the house. It used to function as a separate apartment, but officially is part of a single family home. None of the living space is shared. There is a washer and dryer on the first floor, shared with me, or a guest if I have one. It is just off of the foyer, and feel free to use during usual non-sleeping hours.

During your stay
I am always happy to help if anything comes up. I can easily be reached in most cases, or will leave contact info for a back up person for any questions. Airbnb is the best way to message me generally.

Other things to note
There is plentiful street parking that does not require a permit. You will see signs posted where a permit is required. The entire east side of our block is y permitted.
The gas forced air heating system is on one thermostat, not in this space. I keep it at 68 degrees. There is a window air conditioning unit for the larger bedroom.

Neighbourhood highlights

I love my neighborhood! It's very quiet, but close to so much - Volunteer Park, the Asian Art Museum/SAM, Central Coop, Ada's Bookstore/Cafe, the Hopvine Pub, bus lines to downtown, the Pike/Pine corridor, which has great restaurants and bars.

I am an artist who grew up in Seattle; I’ve traveled extensively. I love the outdoors and cultural amenities of Seattle. I've traveled to India, Africa, Cuba, Latin America, Iceland and Europe. My home has a warm, friendly feel and it's in a fabulous, quiet, convenient area. I live on the main floor. When I travel I prefer an affordable, central location which is what my home offers guests. I love animals and hosting dinners.
