Our stay was fine. It was after we left Houlgate that everything went downhill! Firstly, Christophe doesn't live in Houlgate. He has a concierge that doesn't speak english and cleans this property along with all the other properties Christophe has. I brought along a french speaking friend with me to translate during arrival just incase. She was staying at a hotel down the street. The only two directions we needed to follow upon departure were 1) to strip the beds 2) leave the sheets and bathroom towels on the kitchen table. Since we didn't feel like that was sanitary we left everything next to the kitchen table on a whicker basket. Once we left Houlgate and went back to Paris we received a very crude and unprofessional email from Christophe claiming we trashed the apartment and stole the towels so he charged us 100 euro for 'the extra 2 hours of cleaning' his concierge had to do. His exact words were: "How could ladies urinate in beds and don't give any shit of cleanness?" This was all going on during our 1 week stay and we had to have our French-speaking friends call him to try and get it all straighten out. One of my friends had to call while on her HONEYMOON! He said he was embarrassed that his cleaning lady lied to him and has no idea that was going on. Except he is still not dropping the charges!!! This entire situation put a damper on our vacation and we are very frustrated. We never had an experience like this and therefore didn't think to take pictures so we unfortunately have no proof that we cleaned everything...something I will definitely do in the future. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! Especially if you don't speak their language. They will definitely try and take advantage of you.

I am really shocked by Laura's words that reflect her personnlity. I have nothing to say apart eveything she wrote (except that I told her that pee was found on the beds sheet but this is a fact) is false. I think she is so shamefull about what happened that she choose to deny eveything. About the cost price requested to her it is 90 euros (50 euros for the extra cleaning / 2 hours) and 40 euros for the towels; but she did not accept to pay. Anyway I hosted more than 100 people in different places and many times foreigners from Korea, America, Russia, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Germany, China) and the stays were alsways fine, thanks God ! Some of them even propose to our cleaning lady to visit their place and stay in their home ! We speak good English but also Italian, Spanish, German, Japanese, Romanian. We never try to get advantage from foreign people: as an example I spent 30 minutes of my time to purchase 3 towels in sales to replace then one stolen from Laura and her friend, just to decrease the bill. But of course if my place is left upside down (which was the case for the 1st time with Laura) I will ask for a compensation; this is just the application of Airbnb rules and policy, accepted by contract. Please find below a recap of what happened with Laura and her friends so that you can judge on the situation: 1/ She contacted us the night before coming to ask for an early arrival (11:00 am instead of 03:00pm) we did it but received no thanks 2/ Laura came with 2 friends for a wedding and when she left, the place was really dirty (pee on the bed sheets and bed protections, dirty toilets, lot of mess) 3/ 3 towels disappeared from my appartement 4/ The group was not present for the departures as she left already the place and she asked her freshly married friend to do it instead of her 5/ I asked Laura to compensate for the price of the towels and the extra cleaning hours (in total it took 4 hours to clean a 40 sqm flat for 2 girls staying 2 nights) but she never accepted to do it... Since I am hosting people (more than 100 this year) in different places I never experienced this kind of situation. No respect for the place, no respect for the cleaning lady. Without any answer I decided to open a claim to AIRBNB and I hope that they will be able to help me. As soon as my claim was published Laure wrote to me shocking words and immediatly wrote a review of her stay. I DON'T RECOMMAND THIS PERSON. I WILL NEVER ACCEPT AGAIN IN MY PLACES A GROUP OF FRIENDS GOING TO A WEDDING PARTY... THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS. I hope this kind of situation will won't happen anymore and that Airbnb will be bale to support me so that I can continue to propose premium places to rent for travellers around the world !

Excellent weekend in Houlgate, we had all for us: superb weather, great location and seaside view! The apartment offered us more than expected and we definitely don't regret having booked a quality accommodation. What can we say, we felt like being in a hotel room with amenities and goodies (loved the free coffee box, bathroom essentials in a nice packaging...) All inside is of high standard including the huge wall-mounted TV, electronic equipment (wireless speakers!!!) not to mention the elegant deco - no mistakes. Special thanks for the "Welcome book" with clear explanations. We want to come back and try all the suggestions inside, the free bicycle ride was indeed a pleasant weekend gift. Oh yes, it is sparkling clean!! These people should go professional!

Beau 3 pièces refait avec goût à houlgate. Bonne communication avec le proprio et la gouvernante et rien ne manquait. L'appartement est très bien placé et on peut bien voir la mer de toutes les fenêtres. Bref on recommande chaudement et on reviendra!

L'appartement est parfait : lumineux et charmant, bien situé par rapport à la mer et aux commerces. Et l'on peut admirer le coucher du soleil sur la mer depuis ses fenêtres !

Tout s'est très bien passé. L'emplacement est idéal, l'appartement est très propre et le check in et check out ainsi que la communication ont été très fluides. Je recommande ce logement.

Du a un problème personnel de la gouvernante, le ménage n'était pas fait et les produits de première nécessité manquait. Elle ne nous a pas prévenus, alors que nous avons échangé des SMS quelques minutes avant notre entrée dans le logement. Ceci dit, Christophe a fait son maximum pour rattraper la situation (il n'avait pas été mis au courant par la gouvernante du problème de ménage non fait), il a été très réactif, il a été très compréhensif. Il a très bien communiqué depuis notre réservation jusqu'à notre départ. La personne qui a remplacé la gouvernante était vraiment très professionnelle, très sympathique, très disponible. L'appartement est bien agencé, décoré et meublé avec goût. Il est trés bien situé (mer, Resto, commerces).

Le matin de l'arrivée de nos voyageurs, notre Gouvernante en charge de l’accueil a dû se rendre à l’hôpital pour son fils. La personne qui l’a remplacé à la dernière minute n’avait pas préparé l’appartement comme il se doit et a simplement remis les clefs. Ce n'est évidemment pas le reflet de la prestation que je propose en temps normal à mes voyageurs. Dès que j’ai eu connaissance de ce problème j’ai immédiatement envoyé une femme de ménage pour tout reprendre et changer tout le linge (qui des mots même des voyageurs était propre mais ils ont tout de même souhaité que cela fut changé). Je leur ai dit de bien signalé tout ce qui n’allait pas et que la femme de ménage resterait jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient satisfaits. Je leur ai aussi proposé de les rembourser intégralement si ils ne souhaitaient pas rester vu la situation mais ils ont refusé. Le temps du ménage je leur ai offert une consommation au bar l’Annexe situé en bas de la Résidence et 1h30 plus tard (17h30) j’ai appelé les voyageurs qui m’ont dit qu’ils étaient satisfaits (ils m’ont dit que l’appartement était métamorphosé). Je leur ai offert le champagne pour leur faire oublier cette mésaventure. C'est la première fois que notre Gouvernante n'assure pas correctement le ménage et l'accueil. C'est évidemment à relier à la présence de son fils à l’hôpital le jour de l'arrivée des voyageurs. Je suis terriblement déçu de cette situation d'autant plus je suis très attentif à la propreté de mes logements ; à ce propos je mets à dispositions gracieusement pour chaque voyageur une paire de pantoufles neuves afin de pouvoir retirer les chaussures. Je ne propose aux voyageurs que des logements refaits à neuf, avec de la literie de qualité (matelas André Renault, Epeda,…) de l’électro-ménager haut de gamme (Bosch, Samsung, Klipsch,…), des produits d’accueil et de base, du linge de maison de qualité et des lits faits à l’arrivée. Des logements ayant la particularité de toujours être situés en plein cœur de la ville, dans les plus beaux bâtiments et avec une vue splendide sur un site d’intérêt (mer, monument…). J'ai déployé beaucoup d'effort pour gérer au plus vite le problème et j'ai tout fait pour que nos voyageurs soient satisfaits et se sentent bien dans leur logement. Je tiens également à signaler que j'ai pris les mesures nécessaires afin que cette situation ne se reproduise plus.
