We could not have enjoyed our stay more! The home was beautiful, comfortable, clean, well-appointed, and had all the conveniences of home. Having a private full bathroom for each of the four bedrooms is truly a rare find. The garden was restful and an oasis for drinking wine and sampling cheeses and meats of the area after exhausting days of sightseeing. The fortress views from the second floor terrace and a third floor bedroom are stunning. The home is close/walkable to free public parking, the train station, markets, shops, and easily walkable to both old and new areas of Carcassonne. The neighborhood is very safe. We were asked to water plants, make sure there are chlorine tablets in the pool if used, and set the trash out on collection days. These were not significant requirements and actually added to the experience of living in the home and neighborhood. Jean Michel was helpful, conversant, and willing to provide practical and tourist-related information. I can't recommend this home, Carcassonne, and the region enough! Everyone in our party agrees that the home was wonderful and would definitely return for another stay. One caveat, however: There is French vacation rental insurance that is an apparent legal requirement for lengthier stays, which is not included in the rental price. We were unaware of this requirement and unfamiliar with this type of insurance. This did created last minute stress prior to the stay. We had to research this and get the policy independently at the last minute. For our two weeks, it costs us about an additional 190 Euros.

Response from Jean Michel:

Jean Michel's home in the heart of Carcassonne, just outside the castle walls, is fantastic! The entire home is renovated. A large, modern kitchen, comfortable living room, charming outdoor space and 4 large bedrooms each with its own bathroom - wonderful! And the location is great for exploring Carcassonne. As a local tour guide Jean Michel can easily point out all sorts of local attractions as well.

What a fabulous first visit to Carcassonne. This place is perfectly located close to La Cite with great views of the castle. There are really good restaurants just a stones throw from the house - we had fabulous cassoulet at the one just opposite the entrance to the street. We also had some delicious meals within the city walls (the Hotel de la Cite three course lunch for 38 euros was out of this world). Jean Michel welcomed us on arrival and explained all about the house. The renovation is beautiful, including deliberately exposed brickwork showing off the age of the property and tasteful decor throughout. The house also has some lovely mod cons (eg a massive 3D TV) and a cute patio area outside. All bedrooms have en suite which was ideal for our group of friends (no arguments over who'd have which room!) Jean Michel was on the end of the phone when we needed and was very helpful.
