Old farmhouse which has been renovated to a high standard. The farm is close to many amenities but is at the end of a half mile dirt track, so very secluded and therefore ideal for those concerned about COVID-19. The owners, Annie & Andy, live in a converted barn next door & make farmhouse cider: Hallets

The space
The farmhouse has been recently renovated, has a large farmhouse kitchen with an AGA, 3 double bedrooms with 2 bathrooms upstairs, and a shower room downstairs. There is a large living room with a wood burning stove, and a separate dining room. You enter the house to a parlour for boots and coats where you will also find a washing machine, tumble drier and belfast sink. The downstairs shower room is beyond the parlour. If you are unsure about using an AGA for cooking, there is also an electric cooker, a gas hob and a microwave oven.

Guest access
The outside space is pretty large given that it's on a farm and you would have access to the gardens and ponds on the farm, as well as a seating area in the front garden of the house itself. The farm is 25 acres and you are welcome to explore the whole farm where you will find sheep and cider apple orchards. There are many walks and cycle routes around the farm. Guests booking should note that there is also a 12 bed bunkhouse on the farm aimed at cyclists and walkers so this may also be booked at the time of your stay.

Other things to note
The cider shed is beyond the farmhouse so won't affect your stay but if you would like to see around it, Andy will be happy to show you. As he works from home he is always around the farm in the day time. The farm is licenced and open to the public so from time to time people come up to buy cider, which of course you would be welcome to do.

The nearest house to the farm is half a mile away, right at the entrance to the dirt track so you won't be bothered by any noise. There is loads to do in the local area including dinghy sailing at Llandegfedd Reservoir near Pontypool, mountain biking at Cwmcarn Forest Drive which is a lovely place to drive through and picnic or a zip wire over a lake in Chepstow. The farm is 20 miles from Cardiff, 12 miles from Newport, 10 miles from the market towns of Abergavenny and Usk. Lots of good pubs and restaurants locally, including Caerleon and a great Indian restaurant in Rogerstone as well as a great take-away in Newbridge, 2 miles from the farm.

I live on a farm in South Wales UK and my husband and I and my son run a cider business from the farm. I’m grandmother to Finley and Lochlan. I like to travel, visiting good restaurants and going to the cinema and theatre. I am Scottish married to a Welsh man. As a guest, I am very respectful of hosts' properties and treat them as I would want my own house treated. As a Host, I am available if needed but like to leave my guests to enjoy their stay without intruding.
