Interaction with guests

Jeg vil være behjelpelig med det meste!

I will be helpful as best I can.

The neighbourhood

Skog og mark så langt øye kan se. Noen få andre hytter rundt.

Beautiful forest and lakes as far as the eye can see. A couple of neighboring cabins.

Getting around

The nearest public transport is Solberg Skole, approx 15 minutes from Drammen bus station with route 51. It is a long walk from there to the cabin so I recommend transport all the way up to the cabins parking space. I can be helpful with transport up to the cabin, if I am home.

Other things to note

I reccomend this place only for those who love the outdoor life and customed to being in the woods. There is also a toll road on the road up to the cabin. It is a 20 minute walk from the cabins parking space. In the summertime you use a boat to cross the water to get to the cabin, and in the wintertime you need to walk around or walk over the water when the ice is safe. Good footwear and packing in a backpack is required.

House Rules

Hold hytta ryddig og ren slik at det ser bra ut for neste gjest som kommer. Du må ta med sengetøy og laken selv, men har du ikke mulighet til dette ordner vi sikkert noe.

Keep the cabin clean, so that the next guest will appreciate this cabin as much as you have done. Bring your own bed set and linen, but if you are unable to do so we will work something out.

It is such a beautiful cabin! Clean, spacious and very cosy. We enjoyed seeing the winter landscape of Norway disappear into a spring landscape - very special! The cabin had everything we needed. With the help of our friend Daan who had visited the cabin before, we could find our way to the cabin. We did get lost in the beginning, but from the first lake onwards there were clear signs. If you go from Oslo, with the train to Drammen, bus and then walking up the hill to the cabin, I would recommend you ask for directions and a map from friends before hand. The cabin experience offered exactly everything we needed; nature, quietness, space and time for each other. There was plenty of wood to keep the cabin warm, as well as an equipped kitchen stocked with essentials such as oil, salt, pepper, tea and many more products like pasta and beans that previous guests had left. Petter also left many blankets and duvets to keep you warm and provided lots of candles, head torches and a First Aid kit. He really thought about everything! I would advise everyone who goes around this time of year to wear water proof boots, as it can be wet from the melting snow and ice.

Me and my girlfriend spent a week at this wonderful cabin and we both absolutely fall in love with it. We enjoyed everything about the stay. It's perfect to gain some distance from absolutely everything, relax and just enjoy nature's beauty. Also Petter was the best host you could ask for. Very helpful and obliging. Thank you so much, again, for everything.

We had a wonderful stay in Ruthiro. Back to nature. A warm comfortable house with a breathtaking view and the way to get there is an adventure in itself. First a walk of 1,6 kilometre and then rowing with a boat over the lake to the house. No electricity but candles everywhere. We will come back for sure.

Petters cabin in the woods is absolutely amazing. A beautiful place to really get in touch with the beauty of Nedre Eiker. It is so nice to ride with his boat at night on the lake in june and discover the lake. The cabin itself is really a beauty on its own. Built and decorated with much love. It feels good to be there. Petter is a very helpful and generous man, who picked us up from Drammen and drove us to his place and introduced us to the cabin. I highly recommend this place to all down to earth people, and really like to come back. Tusen takk Petter!

I could also recommend a visit to Rothiro in winter, we had a great weekend in the snow on the frozen lake. Good (cross-country) skiing and snowshoe-hike options near the cabin with quiet trails. The cabin is really cozy with the fireplace when it is cold out.
