This is one of the few places in the area with free parking.
Our off-grid hut is nestled on a wild hilltop on a farm in the heart of the South Downs National Park.

Situated on the River Ouse, we are 5 miles South of Lewes, the county town of East Sussex.

There's walking access to the South Downs Way and many other fantastic country walks. We're a short drive from Glyndebourne, Alfriston, Charleston Farmhouse and Brighton as well as many other East Sussex treasures.

The space
The hut features a cosy double bed with under-bed storage and pull out seating if eating inside. There's a kitchenette with a gas hob and solar fridge and USB sockets for charging mobile phones or tablets.

Please note that the hut has no mains electricity and no access to three pin plug sockets - we are on solar!

The hut is well insulated (and double glazed) and has a wood burner for the additional cosiness factor on cooler nights.

The compact bathroom has a hot shower and a (flushing) composting loo, which is maintained by a host of subterranean worms (don't worry, you won't see them..!)

The outside area has a seasonal fire pit** for warmth or for cooking, a seating area and is adorned with glitzy solar festoon lighting for general good vibes.

Guest access
Our hut is situated on a hillside, approx 5 mins walk uphill from the parking area (bring practical shoes!).

Please arrive before dark. Our hut is rural and access from the parking area is unlit.

Please note that we are a working farm and access to other parts of the farm is not permitted.

Other things to note
We provide a reasonable basket of logs for the fire pit and wood burner. For most guests this is sufficient for their stay (it really depends how much you want to burn!).

If you do need more, logs are available to buy locally in Newhaven.

** Please note that in continued hot or extremely dry weather the fire pit will be out of action. We follow advice from the Natural England Fire Severity Index for our local area.

We have no shops within walking distance, but Lewes and/or Newhaven are both a short drive away for any essentials.
