Other things to note

(Vaia, Vayia) is a small village located in the northeast corner of the island. The hills in this corner of the island are covered with pine-forest. The village has a picturesque small harbour with many small coloured fishing boats. Next to the harbour on the left, you can find a big sandy beach and a smaller one on the right. From the end of May until the middle of September the two taverns set on the beach are offering sun beds and umbrellas for free to clients.
Based on archeological finds it has been proven that Vagia was also inhabited in antiquity. The village has not a real centre but the villagers point the little church of Agia Paraskevi and Agia Sotira as the centre point. It sits at the junction of two small roads, one leading down to the main beach, and the other to a place called Tourlos (with the little island Nisida opposite. Tourlos was chosen by the Germans in WW II as the most strategic position on the island and ruins of their base can be found scattered on the hills. For the swimmers looking for some privacy, there is also the stunning beach of Tourlo just 250 meters from our hotel. Get your picnic basket ready and off you go for your little excursion!
Surrounded by green pine trees and inspiring landscapes, Vagia is the ideal destination for your relaxing holidays in Aegina and has been the main inspiration for Zorz Sarris famous graphic novels "The Treasure of Vagia" and "Ta Stena Papoutsia".
Vagia is perfect for those who may wish to avoid crowds and offers a great sense of peace and relaxation, though is close enough to offer visitors easy access to other towns of the island, where you can find various forms of nightlife and entertainment. You can rent bikes, mopeds and cars directly from our hotel.
Moreover Vagia makes the ideal starting point for someone to visit some of the historical and archaeological sites of the (URL HIDDEN) of the most well preserved ancient temples in the world is situated within a 30 minutes walking distance from our hotel.

Excellent spot, great breakfast, warm and welcoming hosts. We were welcomed with a beer and a smile. The location is perfect, 5 minutes from the beach. The hosts were communicative and helpful when we ran into issues with the ferry strikes (make sure to keep an eye on local news for the islands). The room was lovely, comfortable, and had a fantastic ocean view! Thank you Maria, Panayiotis and Stelios!

Excellent hotel and great host! Vagia is a bit remote if you are using public transport but Notis is very helpful in letting you know bus schedules and locations of sites in the area.

Vagia is a lovely place, perfect for a quiet vacation. The hotel is really quite wonderful, even more beautiful than expected, within walking distance of the Temple of Afaia. Notis and Maria are very welcoming. Maria's breakfasts of exquisite home-baked delights are not to be missed. I would highly recommend this place for a few days of quiet and rest after visiting the fantastic lively city of Athens - just a short ferry ride away!

The trip was a very pleasant and relaxing one. You'll get advises as soon as you get there and if there is anything that you need just say it and most likely it will be done. We were unlucky with a taxi reservation , but our host himself took us to the nearest port. I highly recommend the hotel if you choose Vaia as you village.

In the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Vagia, 30 minutes walk from the ancient temple of Aphaia and five minutes’ walk from the sandy beach, we created a traditional hotel to act as a base for those who want to discover the beautiful island of Aegina.
Respect for the surrounding environment and our passion for Greek culture and tradition, contributed to the creation of a warm in its simplicity place to make your experience on Aegina Island an unforgettable one.
Built in traditional Aeginian architecture Vagia hotel’s rooms and gardens are stone paved with Karystos stones. Our rooms are overlooking the Ancient Temple of Afaia and the blue waters of the Saronic Gulf.
Hotel Vagia features a large stone paved terrace, shadowed from a pergola holding harbour trees that produce grapes in the summer. Picturesque spots can be found throughout the hotel such as pergolas overgrown by bougainvilleas, as the hotel is surrounded by lush gardens. The terrace can be rented for special occasions such as weddings and we take care of the catering!
Do not hesitate! Give us the pleasure of having you as our guests!
