Interaction with guests

We are happy to provide as much support as required. All our staff have lived locally for more than 15 years and are friendly and supportive. If you have local friends or family and do not need any hints that is fine. If you would like a chat and some information we are very happy to help.

The neighbourhood

Beautiful Fremantle Arts centre opposite with cafe, shop and art exhibitions. Free music on Sundays in summer.
Fremantle Leisure Centre (gym, heated pools and outdoor pool) just 50m away.
Park near leisure centre for walks with your dog if required.
Tennis club and bowling club in the park welcome guests.
Neighbours are friendly and discreet.
Just across the park is Fremantle CBD.

Getting around

Right opposite is the free, frequent CAT (Central Area Transit) bus which will take you directly to the Fremantle train and bus station. A short walk to Beach Street and right along the river will lead you to on the left to The Kiosk the The Left Bank Pub, the Dome over the river and further along The Zephyr Cafe - all on the banks of the Swan River.
If you turn left, at the corner is the Mantle and then Clancy's Fish pub - so much choice!!

Other things to note

The Fremantle Arts Centre will occasionally have musical and arts events. This is an ideal spot to stroll to the venue - if you do not want to listen or attend but assured that the extremely thick wall will insure your quiet amenity.
The airconditioning system takes fresh air from outside to minimize energy costs and also is great to have nice fresh air that is not just recycled inside.
The second bedroom has its own reverse cycle airconditioning. The remainder of the house has ducted airconditioning.

Gillian is a great host. The house is nearby everywhere. There are cafes, supermarkets nearby which is only 5-10 mins drive. Perfect for two families because they have spacious kitchen. If you are driving, you do not need to worry about parking because there is a garage!

We loved the location ofJames House - so close to the Fremantle Arts Centre and the Leisure Centre and not too far from everything else in Fremantle. The house is cool and quiet, with good amenities and was very clean and tidy. If we happened to have a few rainy days, I'm sure we would have spent more time exploring the bookshelves - a very interesting and eclectic mix indeed. Two bathrooms and a fully functional kitchen suit our family very well - we would happily return there if we get the opportunity.

Response from Gillian:
Hope you will have the chance to spend more time on the books and maybe the winter pleasures of Fremantle. So glad all went well for you!

James House is a great property - very big and spacious for 6 of us. The pictures were accurate, and the apartment was clean, well-kept and had essentials provided for all of us. Definitely helpful to have 2 showers/bathrooms. Location was great - just opposite Fremantle Arts Centre which has a nice cafe, and near a bus stop with the Red CAT line. Was also located 5mins walk away from Europcar where we rented our car from. Gillian/Connie were excellent hosts - quick to respond to any questions we had, let us check in early, helped us out with heating settings and storing our luggage after check-out. Wi-fi was decent and fast, but dropped out occasionally (came back quickly though). Lots of plug points for the 6 of us to use. For anyone interested, the Fremantle Arts Centre is a Pokemon Gym that can be accessed from the property & we caught a Kangaskhan in the house!!! Would definitely stay here again.

Response from Gillian:
So glad you enjoyed this special place - especially with the Kangaskhan actually in the house!! Good luck??!! Gillian

Ian (my husband), Connie and I run a short-stay accommodation business in Fremantle that has been going since 2006.
We all enjoyed Christmas 2015 and we also enjoy helping people to have a great experience in lovely Fremantle and Perth!

As the photo, we are dog lovers - takes a bit to keep up with a young, active mini-schnauzer!!
We all enjoy music, the outdoors (especially the dog beach and dog park!!). BBQs and when we can get a break some travel or trips to visit friends.
We still need to get to Prague - maybe a river cruise?? Also Ian and I want to take a good look at inland Victoria and New South Wales - a car trip pottering around about April 2016 would be good.

I guess for a life motto - Do as you would be done by - this seems to work well!
