The space
Burnside Cottage is a 200 year old stone cottage, recently renovated to a high standard to reflect modern living whilst retaining its original charm.

A bright lounge with large, comfy sofas and a Smart TV is the perfect place for lounging after a day’s adventures. There's also a good selection of board and card games and a variety of jigsaws.

The fully equipped kitchen/diner with log-burner, Smart TV, breakfast bar and bespoke, reclaimed wood dining table and benches, is perfect for socialising. There’s a wide selection of glasses for your favourite tipples! A downstairs WC is conveniently situated off the kitchen.

Upstairs you will find three spacious bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed, Smart TV, ample storage and an ensuite shower room with a large, walk in rain shower.
The second bedroom also has a king-size bed, Smart TV, ample storage and views across the village.
The third bedroom has two single beds, as well as a futon sofa that can be turned into a bed if required. It also has views across the village.

The large, family bathroom with a bath and over-bath rain shower, is perfect for families with children.

To the rear of the cottage, you will find a south-facing courtyard. This suntrap has a full-size dining table and corner sofa, perfect for al-fresco dining and gazing at the stars under Northumberland's Dark Skies. From the courtyard, you can access the garage where you can store bikes or other sports equipment.

To the side of the property there is private, off road parking for 1 vehicle and there is additional, on road parking outside the cottage or on the village green, where you will find EV chargers.

The friendly village has a well-stocked shop, a local pub and an award-winning restaurant/bar. A short walk past the village green brings you to the beautiful River North Tyne. Perfect for strolling along, watching the fish jumping and the herons in flight. Your 4-legged friends will be in heaven, especially if they are water lovers!

For our youngest guests, we have a travel cot (we do not provide a mattress or bedding), high-chair, fire safety guard and plenty of child-friendly crockery and cutlery. We even have rubber ducks to make bath time fun!

The local market town of Hexham is 20 minutes and Newcastle is 45 minutes away by car. Alternatively, there is a regular train service from Hexham to both Newcastle and Carlisle.

Guest access
The whole cottage, including off street parking is for the sole use of the guests.

Other things to note
Parking for 1 car on private driveway plus additional on-road parking.

Wark has always been our 'happy place', where we've gone to recharge our batteries and enjoy the stunning scenery. When the opportunity came up for us to buy this 200 year old, stone cottage, just as we were retiring from the Public Sector, it was perfect timing. We take great pride in the cottage and doing everything we can to ensure our guests have a perfect stay.
