The space

This property has been an airbnb for 2 years, we are the new owners hence the new listing.

Wonderful Victorian heritage 1500sf two bedroom apartment, with 10' high ceilings, original mouldings, claw foot cast iron tub, vintage light fixtures, tin ceiling, two lovely gas fireplaces and oak floors; but also completely redone wiring, plumbing, kitchen, AC and heating - you get all the character of the old with the convenience and comfort of the new.

The main floor has a large living/dining area with built-in bookshelves, a flat screen TV and stereo, a working ceramic log gas fireplace and a beautiful bronze chandelier, a powder room and a fully equipped kitchen with a great walk-out deck that has a BBQ for your use.

Upstairs are two large bedrooms, one with a queen bed and couch (the couch converts to a single bed) with its own gas fireplace and small deck, and the other with a queen bed and a full couch in its own alcove area that converts to a double bed.

The apartment sleeps 4 to 6 best, but can handle 7 if needed.

The upstairs also has a large bathroom with cast iron soaking tub and a 5' x 5' marble tiled walk-in shower, as well as your own laundry room.

My family and I really enjoyed The Linden House. Everything we needed was within a few minutes walk. Kris was a great host and always available to answer questions. I'd highly recommend this place.

This was our first trip to Toronto and Kris place made our trip a memorable one. The property is located in a prime location just 5 min away from the Subway station and less than 10 min walk from Bloor Streen and very close to the down town area. The kitchen was well equipped. The standing shower was great. I loved the dining table as it overlooked the street. Thanks for everything Kris.

The apartment is in a convenient location and it felt spacious enough for our family of six. Having a designated parking space was also a huge plus. Much of the historic character has been preserved. The kitchen and bathrooms have been nicely updated, the floors refinished and walls painted, but much still appears to be original. With the original lighting fixtures, wavy window glass, uneven floors, slightly slanted stairwell, cracked plaster and paint giving the apartment a historic charm. There are a few things that made our stay "okay", but not "great". I have recommended to the owners that the following be fixed... The apartment's air conditioning was not adequate during the hotter days of our stay, especially in the bedrooms. The owners have installed a single split unit air conditioner, fixed to the top of the stairwell. This one unit is not designed to cool an apartment this size, with so many rooms on 2 floors. On hot days, the upstairs bedrooms get very hot (with the many windows, and the un-shaded skylights directly over the beds only magnifying the heat) and there is no AC ventilation going directly into the bedrooms (and the 2 small tower fans provided & ceiling fans were not enough to cool them). The daytime outside temperature during our stay reached the mid- 80s F, and we all sweated those nights in the bedrooms (with our 4 year old twins having a particularly hard time sleeping). My alarm clock has a built in thermometer, and on those first 4 nights, when we went to bed, the bedroom temperature was about 80 F (27 C), and by morning it had only cooled to about 73-76 F (23-24 C), and this is with the air-conditioning running night-and-day, on the lowest temp setting, and all fans on to circulate the air. I recommended to the owner that a mini-split unit be installed in each of the bedrooms, or at the very least, making available removable window air conditioning units for the summer months. If this has not been done, I would not recommend this apartment for summer stays. Also, the condition of furniture in the bedrooms and linens were not as expected. One of the dressers was broken with exposed screws, with the entire front of the lower drawer missing (making it unusable). We were never informed about it or notified at check-in. For our arrival, the housekeeper had made one of the beds with a combination of 3 old miss-matched linen sets (2 different colored top sheets, no fitted sheet, & 2 colors of pillow cases). One of the bed comforters had a large hole on the top (3x4 inches), it needed to be mended or replaced. Also, the sleeper sofas are over 20 years old with original mattresses and they are getting threadbare (something also not visible in the photos). The available linens in the closet for making-up the sleeper sofas are old and mismatched and need replacing. Hopefully, the owners have invested in some...

We really enjoyed our stay at The Linden House in August 2017. The pictures and description are very accurate. The apartment is in a great location, with most of Toronto's attractions within walking distance or a short ride away. Kris was very pleasant and easy to communicate with.

A truly wonderful home, beautifully located, with all the conveniences of a 24 hour grocery store across the road, a pharmacy a bigger grocery store and eating places a stone's throw away. I would definitely recommend for families upto 6 people. The biggest advantage is free parking on the premises. Kris was truly fantastic, very responsive and extremely kind. Would come again.

The Linden House is a great alternative to hotel accommodations in the area. The bedrooms are spacious. The kitchen is well equipped. The living area is bright and comfortable. Wifi and TV was appreciated. The location, however, was at the top of our list since we could enjoy walking throughout the city to most of the places we wanted to visit!

Kris User ProfileKris is a superhost.

We've been living downtown for 15 years and love all the public amenities this amazing city offers. We are lovers of green spaces, avid bikers, runners, and general healthy living. We love yoga, organic food from St. Lawrence Market, and antique shopping. On weekends we love to enjoy the Muskokas.
