I met with Olivier in Arles where he worked. I was made to feel welcome from the beginning and introduced to his friends, who own the restaurant. All made me feel glad I had come. After work we went to Olivier's car and began rhe short drive home. Olivier could not wait to tell me about all the medieval and Roman ruins in the area of Fontvielle! Not only did he tell me, but we visted some and walked around taking photos, even before going to his wonderful house and garden. I was getting one history lesson after another. The house is lovely, and slowly being repaired by Olivier. My bedroom and private bath had just been finished. How luxurious! Olivier kept asking about something to eat and drink. It 's been horribly hot. The house is cool. After washing up and drinking enormous amounts of water, we again got into the car and went to buy me some things to eat. I was worried because I did not have a car, but Olivier assured me he as driver, was at my disposal. This was the truth. He again was excited to take me to ruins; and villages and show me the places he loves. In the morning he again took me into Fontvielle, and then to Arles to meet a friend. He could not be more accomodating.

Olivier was a terrific host. He was generous with advice, which was always very good, stocked the kitchen with essentials, and offered other extras from his own lovely garden. His rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. His house and garden are on the edge of of the village among the olive tree plantations, offering a pleasant view of the sunset of the valley. It was a good place to relax after a long day of touring the surrounding Provençal countryside. Best of all, Olivier always made me feel very welcome.

I cannot imagine our trip to France without having met Olivier. Not only did he share his beautiful intimate and pristine country cottage with us- he also shared his vast knowledge of the area and showing us incredible sites right near his house. Olivier shared his time talking with us about every subject. He shared his wonderful cooking with ingredients from his garden and breakfast in the morning. We were honored by Olivier to be taken into his home as family. We left France missing many great people and experiences. I hope that we will see Olivier and his sister Christine again soon. I would urge people visiting Provence to contact him. Olivier will make your trip!
