Authentic and rustic Cévennes house with its south facing terrace and its shaded garden. It is an old sheepfold composed of a main house and an independent cleave. Ideal for hikers, the house is on the heights, in south highly-rated hillside. On a way of crest (G.R 60), close to a small hamlet. Located away from roads, near Cévennes National Park, it is a place conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation in nature.

The space

The sheepfold is composed of a main stone house with its terrace and an annex which also has a terrace. They are south facing in a dominant position with a beautiful view of the mountains.
Regarding the rooms, the " Bergerie" "includes:
- in the main house: a bedroom with a double bed, and a sleeping area on the mezzanine with two single beds,
- in the "clède" a room with double sofa bed and a terrace.
Important note: this is a house with exposed stone walls and a slate floor in the living room. Its rustic appearance can make it seem less clean than a house with smooth walls.

Guest access

The sheepfold is independent. It is located near a small hamlet to be crossed, but it is isolated in the nature. Access to the house is via a small footpath that goes up on 50m. The parking can be done:
- for small cars, a parking place is 50m from the house after crossing a narrow porch,
- for wider vehicles, at the entrance of the hamlet at 250m or 300m

Interaction with guests

I will give you all the information on the walks and sites to discover in the surroundings. Flyers and maps are available in the house

The house is equipped with blankets and pillows.

Catherine's place is really amazing, perfect for a family or group of friends wanting to get away from it all without being too remote. It's a very steep drive up to Pinauch from Ganges or Sumene, and Catherine guided us up there in her car on arrival which was much appreciated. The house is beautiful, rustic, cosy and spacious, and the view is surely one of the best in Europe, particularly when illuminated by the full moon for my 30th birthday! We will be back one day I hope.

Wow, what a view! I don't think you could wish for a better location. The house is a beautiful old building. It has a real romantic feeling about it. It is quite basic but that was exactly what we wanted. We did some great long walks in the area and did plenty of sightseeing. Catherine and her husband Lucas are very friendly and helpful.

This house is a true marvel for individuals and families, who wish to get a break from the daily hectics. Pinoch is a small village in the mountains, and no traffic noise reaches the house. The view of the stars over the mountains is breathtaking - I can't remember when I had last seen so many stars. The house has plenty of space (even more than advertised), and adequate cooking and showering utilities. No less that 4 different outdoor possibilities to enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner around the house, and all with a great view over the mountains! The neighbours are friendly and helpful, and offer good tips what to see in the surrounding. We recommend the Cirque de Navacelles (about an hour away), or a hike to the Ranc de Banes (the mountain to the south-east ... steep climb, though). Catherine is a great host, with many ideas for things to do, and always helpful. We can recommend this jewel to anybody who wants to have a good time in the Cevennes, away from all the day to day troubles!

Native of the Cévennes, I travel everywhere in France, for my work. I love discovering new cities and meeting new people, but I could'nt do without these vast natural mountain landscapes ...
