The space

Far from the madding crowd, yet close enough to pop out for day trips. Nothing is further than 45 minutes away - ostrich rides in Oudtshoorn, wonderful surfing @ Vic Bay. Farmers markets in George or Sedgefield. Historical Mossel Bay and the cradle of Mankind. Shark diving for the brave, or horse riding, wine tasting and the best cheese factory for miles around.
Return @ the end of the day to the peace and quiet of the valley. Great for kids, safe and NO TV.

Guest access

The farm is all yours, spend time with the dogs, the sheep + cows, the chickens and geese, or go off and meditate and fish in one of the 3 dams. Just hang in a hammock and read a book, or visit our local winery and cheese-factory and catch up on some quite time. Restore your soul ! There are books, games, puzzles in all the cottages. Plenty of firewood (all free). Loads of walks, bird-watching, star gazing.

Interaction with guests

Claude and Happy are resident on the farm, and will be there to help fix a puncture, tell you where to mountain bike, have a beer or a braai with you - make sure you have enough firewood or blankets - they're just amazing hosts ! You will also be visited by Rusty Rose and Larry the resident ridgebacks, and Phuza and Josey the 2 jack russels. There are also calves and lambs running around !

The neighbourhood

you're in this beautiful valley .......... cows and dams, and birds, flowers and stars........ the hamlet of Leeukloof. The air is clean, the water is fresh, the locals are friendly ..... There are amazing mountain bike trails thru the Bosbou forestry firebreaks ! Down the road you can ride and elephant @ Bottelierskop, or go on a horse drawn cart with an incredible Percheron !

Getting around

you will need your own transport to get to us. The road is gravel for about 6 km's but it is a good road. The nearest airport is George - and you can hire a car there. Alternatively we are 4 hours from Cape Town. But well worth the trip - make it part of your Garden Route experience.

Other things to note

As we are "off the grid" we run on Solar power, gas and we collect our own water.
so sadly NO HAIRDRYERS !!! You can charge cellphones and use laptops - but the signal is poor. Please use water sparingly ! But the up-side is you can bring your dog, cat, parrot and even your Horse !!!
BUT don't let this put you off as you will lack for nothing .......

Please pick up your dog poo and not leave it all for us to do. Just respect the place and remember the "Running on Solar rules" - turn off any lights you are not using. Water is scarce - please use only what you need. thank you .

I'm a farm girl @ heart, small things make me happy, i love good red wine, am surrounded by abandoned or orphaned animals, even people ! Love Tapa's because there are so many different tastes, i can't ever order just one whole thing - suffer from fomo if the other persons plate looks nicer ! Travel must be living like the locals, dont like fancy hotels where you are just an observer. I sailed for 2 years and that was the best form of travel ever ! My lifes motto could be "Live and let live" - i have such a diverse bunch of friends but i don't know that i could ever put them all in the same room ! We run guest cottages on our farm and i love meeting new people, so since the kids are out of the house we decided to let others enjoy the beauty of living on a small holding but being in the city. Fresh veggies and farm eggs @ home and wonderful vineyards and beaches all around us.
