The space

Come and visit the Maasai Community in Mile Tisa, nine miles from Namanga in Kenya. We have built a hut in a Masaai Village for visitors to come and be immersed in Maasai culture. As soon as you arrive you will be given a traditional outfit which you will keep until your departure, and can be purchased on request. After you have settled into the hut you will be welcomed by a dance troupe of 'Moran' who will dance around the fire in an extraordinary way!

After a delicious supper taken from an exclusively Masaai menu bed down on the cow skin sheet around the fire inside your hut.

This community has not been infiltrated by the mass tourism in Kenya as it is not within a national park, and as a result everything you see is the real deal. Despite this we do have a shower and a western style toilet.

If you would like to stay the options of activities are numerous. Behind the hut is the dark mountain which overlooks Kilimanjaro and Tanzania - walking up it is a great day trip and you will see some wildlife such as camels, buffalo, baboons and warthogs.

Other people head to Amboseli National Park for the day, and a separate price can be discussed for people who would like us to arrange this for them as well. Amboseli is famous for its glorious vistas of Kilimanjaro and the 1500 elephants that roam around under its shadow.

Some people prefer to stay behind and herd goats or cows for the day. This care free life will very quickly help you to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of city life.

For people coming from Nairobi we can arrange pick up so that you don't need to worry about anything.

Included in the price (see website) is transport from Nairobi, the food, the dancing and all other necessities - there will be optional expenses on top of these such as buying Masaai trinklets or clothing.

It is recommended that you bring your own water, warm clothes, and hand sanitiser.

There was four of us that drove to the hut from Nairobi. The drive was fine a short 2 hours and you got to see the African landscape. We were welcomed by Simon, one of the Masaai, and introduced to the area and shown the hut which was amazing and completely authentic. There is…

Masai immersion is an experience you would definitly like to have. For a day, you sleep, dance and eat like a masai. The sorroundings are really beautiful, there is no electricity around, meaning the light you will have will be the one coming from the star-full sky and the moon …
