My cottage overlooks the sea and islands in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Restaurant 1 mile away, ferry to Ulva and boat to Staffa, Iona and Treshnish Isles 4 miles. Great area to explore whole island.

The cottage faces the Isle of Ulva, a beautiful car free island with stunning scenery. During the summer months there is a ferry running to Ulva all day from 9am to 5pm every day except Saturday.

The space

You will be sharing my cottage, it's small and cosy with a big garden. You can share all facilities, the bathroom does not have a shower but there's plenty of hot water for the bath. This is not luxury but it's comfortable and in a fantastic area with amazing scenery all round.

Guest access

Bathroom and kitchen shared with one other, unfortunately no shower due to poor pressure from the private water supply. Supply to kitchen UV filtered but otherwise untreated.

Interaction with guests

I will be available most of the time, I'm occasionally away but my son who runs the nearby restaurant with his wife will be there if I'm away. You are welcome to make yourself at home, use the kitchen and facilities. There is a choice of breakfast items, feel free to help yourself to breakfast whenever you like. If you prefer, and I'm here, I will prepare breakfast for you at a pre arranged time.

Other things to note

I send directions to guests and the map on the Airbnb description shows the exact location of the cottage. DO NOT TRY TO FIND THE COTTAGE USING A POSTCODE. Airbnb insist on sending postcodes but if you use mine in certain GPS and Satnav devices you will be taken well over a mile out of your way on poor roads.

A very comfortable stay in the cottage which is away from other buildings and so peaceful. The road runs past but there is very little traffic, and the view over to Ulva is great. Mary was away but I was very comfortable. I had difficulty connecting to the web so had no radio or music which I might have liked. I had a delicious meal at her son's down the road at the rustic Ballygown restaurant. Mary had left useful info about Mull and I loved the short walk down to the local beach/cove Eilean Rainich.

The cottage is very romantic and has excellent views on the sea and the opposite island. If you don't bring your supplies with you you ought to go to the only restaurant within walking distance. It is run by Mary's son and his wife. A reservation which Mary had done for us it likely necassary. It is very small and if you turn up too late (we were the last guests arriving at 7 p.m.) one of the three dishes might not available any more. It is a BYO so don't forget to bring your own drinks with you.

We had a lovely time at the cosy cottage of Mary. It's very calm and beautiful out there! It was nice to walk around on Ulva, the Isle you can see from her window. Mary was very kind and helpful, thank you for everything!

I had a great time with Mary on Mull. It's very hard to get around the island if you don't have your own car but Mary helped me with all the challenges. The Scottish weather kept us inside for two days and it was cozy and magical to watch the sea change so quickly with the weather. Lots of great walks right out her front door where I ran into Highland cows and sheep on the road. Beautiful, low pressure fun. Mary is a fun and fantastic hostess!

The cottage is very small but with everything you need inside. Mary kindly let us use her kitchen to cook dinner and prepare breakfast with a selection of cereals and toast etc. as self service. The cottage is located on the west coast of the island which is the most beautiful. It is a very practical place to take ferries to go to staffa and ulva islands and see the birds. However, the road to get there is really small and in bad condition (about 30min of small road) so it can be a bit tiring to go back there several times if you stay more than one night. But all the west coast is with similar roads anyway.

I live in the Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. I also do a few house sits here and there and I like to have a look round new places before going to a sit.
