Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Twice featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s Top Stays, Rumple Cottage is a warm Georgian escape on a quiet lane at the Wiltshire/Somerset/Cotswolds border. Enjoy frosty walks to fireside pubs, the glow of the woodburner, long soaks in the nickel bath and film nights on the 80” projector. Only 20 mins to Bath and 6 mins to Bradford on Avon. Arrive to homemade cream tea, fresh bread and mulled cider for a cosy start to your stay.

The space
Rumple Cottage is a Grade 2 listed cottage which was built in the 1840s. Originally it served as an agricultural building before being converted for the workers of nearby Wingfield House.

Bianca and I have taken six months to convert the cottage into somewhere luxurious for you to holiday in, whilst uncovering some of the original features.

We have knocked down the upstairs 1940s wall which divided the two bedrooms to create one large, light, double perspective bedroom. We have added a luxurious freestanding nickel bath as well as a set of 1920s brass taps.

We've used Zoffany Wallpaper and Farrow and Ball paint and tried to mix of old and new furniture pieces; from a Victorian marble topped Demi-lune table, to a modern velvet covered Ottoman for you to store your clothes.

We've also converted the old airing cupboard to a small en-suite toilet.

In the living room we have uncovered a strip of the original stone wall, but covered the rest of the room in beautiful House of Hackney paints and wall paper.

From the velvet sofa you can relax in front of the 80" projector screen and curl up in front of the Jotul wood burning stove.

We have used Farrow and Ball paints in the kitchen/diner along with Bosch and Smeg appliances. We have everything you need to cook yourself a tasty meal on the induction stove - but if you need anything special, just ask!

In the downstairs bathroom is an amazing Rainforest Tower Shower, with rainforest shower, hand shower and two jets.

There is a front and back garden, with seating so you can enjoy the morning and the evening sun.

Other things to note
Because of the age and size of the property, the cottage has a steep stair case - if you have mobility issues then we wouldn't advise you to book. We're really sorry.

We happily accept owners with a dog, but we do ask the dog isn't left at the property alone.
