Comfortably soft antique single (twin) bed in a room with just enough space to also have a young child in pack 'n play. Shared bathroom that is next to and much larger than the sleeping room. Horses on the property that love to be exercised & loved.

The space

1919 State Historical Farmstead house. Like coming to grandmothers house in the country but on a paved road and just a mile from town and freeway just a few blocks farther away.

Guest access

Family room with fireplace. Dining room easily seats six and arrangements can be made to invite more guest for dinner. Full kitchen. Backyard with acres to roam. Fountain Creek. Small roof deck when other room is not rented out.

Interaction with guests

We stay in the master bedroom across the hall way and share the bathroom. We try to stay available via text when we are not at the house. Most of our previous guest are now some of our newest friends even those that thought they would want a more private space.

Other things to note

If you love the romantic sound of trains this is the place for you as they are also within a mile of the house. If you do not like the sound of trains please bring your own ear plugs or music that you can listen to privately to cover the distant sound. We sleep right through it but for some it takes a bit to get used to. Most of our guest have loved it. There is a housing developmnent going in across the street from us and it is sometimes causing additional noise during the day with construction.

Cora's place is a homestead. It has history and character and Cora takes pride in running it like a bed and breakfast. There is a cute creek along the back of the property complete with some sweet horses and Cora encourages enjoying her place. There is plenty of warm water for showers, a continental breakfast bar, wifi, and toiletries. I enjoyed my stay here and made a new friend in the process!

If you like a nice quiet place with great hosts, this is the place. Cora and Regan ( and Coal) are great Hosts. The house is more a Home. I spent 3 great months there. Was really a home away from home.

Cora and her husband provided my 21 year old son a room to stay and straight from the horse's mouth I quote "these people are awesome mom, you have to meet them!" I am grateful for their care and consideration insuring my son had a warm place to stay and food in his stomach! :-)

Cora and Reagan have practically become my surrogate family during my stay. Whether it was the horse back rides, helping Reg with old jeeps, going to church with them, or helping Cora around the house they have been nothing but gracious and kind. I had an extended stay while I was looking for a place to live out here and they were amazingly accommodating. I was definitely blessed to find such amazing hosts!

Response from Cora:
Thanks, Luke! Incredible guest. Just wish we could get him a job on our side of town so he could stay longer! He is a 10 star guest! He went beyond the expectations of being a guest many times.

Come, visit the beautiful Colorado mountains, and let your mind enjoy a trip back in time with the stories, results and photos of those who homesteaded here. Shady Grove is the place to find a bit of nostalgia whether you are here for business or pleasure. We have several rooming options for you. We offer short and long-term residence.

Looking for a private vacation? The home may be booked for the price of seven guests. The beautifully decorated master bedroom within the house is available rarely through special request. The upstairs rooms and downstairs couch can be rented separately or together.   Laundry and kitchen are accessible with room bookings sometimes. The majority of the house is available when you chose one room for one person.  The quaint 1914 cottage is also offered. This is the homestead of the first family while Shady Grove was being built. There is parking for campers without hook-ups. We can accommodate places to park a car or truck if you want to pull off in a safe area to sleep or park a big rig and travel with a smaller vehicle into the Colorado Mountains. We offer unique items not listed in the boxes that Air BNB offer. Please contact me if you have any questions.

I am aspiring to be a stay at home Grand Mama through serving guests through Air BNB. My husband and I are part of the Simpich Character Doll family.  The artwork my husband and I help to create over the years will be on display. We love music! My husband plays banjo, guitar and harmonica and I play the gut bucket bass. We have played professionally as the Cherry Creek Pickers. With a little encouragement, we might share some special music for you or bring your instrument and join us.  We enjoyed being wranglers and musicians at the Lost Valley Dude Ranch and the Singing Cowboy Dude Ranch in Buena Vista. We have fixed up several old houses in the Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek area. My husband loves trains and has all kinds of information in his head and in books about local trains. He also loves Jeeping especially in 1940 jeeps that he rescues. Airbnb experiences have not yet come to our area officially. We like the idea and have tried to fit a jeeping experience into an Airbnb box. Help us design a trip that works for you. We took a couple from France to dinner in a 1940's jeep. We also took them to Buena Vista and mountain sights near there. We would like to consider creating a special experienced designed to meet your needs. We have many adventuresome stories to share with you. We have traveled around Colorado all of our lives.

My motto for living is to enjoy life to its fullest. We hope you will experience that while staying at Shady Grove or anywhere on this State Historical Farmstead complete with horses. We use some of the funds from host stay to keep and improve this State Historical Farmstead. A small portion of your funds might also helps us to enlarge the farmstead garden project as we are now trying to plant something in honor of each guest that comes to stay so that it will be a farm/garden that others can enjoy in the future. We look forward to meeting your needs as you begin your adventure in picturesque Colorado. We love coming home here!
