Escape to The Enchanted Hut 🌿
A cosy shepherd’s hut hidden within our peaceful little forest on a plant-based animal rescue sanctuary near Whitby. Wake to birdsong and unwind surrounded by nature. Enjoy your own covered outdoor kitchen, ( vegan and vegetarian food only to be brought on site. We kindly ask that no meat is brought onto the sanctuary ) camping shower, eco compost toilet and cosy firepit area.
Every stay helps us care for our 300 much-loved rescued sheep 🐑❤️
The space
Cosy and mystical shepherd’s hut set within its own enchanted woodland clearing, offering a peaceful and private escape. Inside you’ll find two comfortable double beds, a cosy electric fire and a soft, inviting couch for relaxing after a day outdoors.
Outside, there is a covered tea-making area with essential facilities, a mini fridge and a gas stove for simple self-catering. To the rear are separate units with a camping shower and compost toilet. A new firepit area completes the magical setting for evenings under the stars.
Guest access
The Enchanted Hut has its own private section of woodland, creating a peaceful and secluded space for guests to relax and enjoy.
Guests have exclusive use of the hut, covered outdoor kitchen area, shower and compost toilet facilities, firepit and woodland seating area.
Please note that the surrounding sanctuary, sheep fields and animal areas are private and are not included within guest access.

The Enchanted Hut is tucked away within the grounds of our plant-based animal rescue sanctuary, home to around 300 much-loved rescued sheep.
Peaceful, quirky and surrounded by nature, it’s the perfect base for exploring Whitby, Staithes and the North York Moors — with the added feel-good factor that the money raised from your stay helps us care for our rescued animals. 🐑❤️
A stay with a difference
Wake up to birdsong, slow down, breathe in the country air and enjoy being somewhere a little removed from everyday life.
Our tiny hamlet of Tranmire sits just off the A171 moor road, making it wonderfully peaceful while still being within easy reach of some of North Yorkshire’s most beautiful places.
Explore the cobbled streets and harbour of Whitby, climb the famous 199 Steps to Whitby Abbey, discover the Dracula connection, wander along the beach or spend the day exploring the picturesque fishing village of Staithes.
Then retreat back to your own little sanctuary hideaway.
🐑 Staying on a working animal sanctuary
Please note that your booking is for The Enchanted Hut accommodation only and does not include access to the sheep, their fields or the working areas of the sanctuary.
Our animals’ welfare and privacy come first, and the sanctuary itself isn’t open as a visitor attraction.
But by staying with us, you’re doing something rather lovely…
Your stay helps support the care of our 300 rescued sheep, including their food, bedding, veterinary care and everything they need to live safe and loved lives.

We also use the fleece naturally sheared from our own rescued sheep to create beautiful cruelty-free rugs, wool and handmade gifts.
Some of our handmade pieces may be available to purchase during your stay — simply ask us if you’d like to see them.
