The space
This newly refurbished Scottish mountain cottage offers a very unique stay in a comfortable space with stunning 360 degree views. A private garden wraps around the house with a small fence which helps keep out the roaming hill sheep from the garden. A walking route and track travels below and to one side of the cottage, however on the southern side of the cottage and particularly on the terrace the garden it enjoys sheltered privacy.
On entry to the house there is a boot room with sink and cupboards for storage. Great views to the hills can be enjoyed where you can get booted up for the day ready for hiking or exploring the local area.
Inside the main body of the house a long corridor joins all the rooms. The kitchen is situated in the centre of the house with two large South facing windows which capture a beautiful light at different times of the day. One large round central dinning table allows people to dine comfortably in a spacious kitchen. A breakfast bar area is situated in front of one of the windows which allows a good spot for enjoying a coffee or having a quick snack while looking out for wildlife. A central bathroom on the north side of the house offers underfloor heating for extra comfort with a bath with shower W/C and sink. A further W/C is found down the corridor next to the sitting room.
The large South/West facing sitting room is a stunning view point room. With fabulous views of the Kings seat hill, the Dollar glen and Castle Campbell and views far reaching in the direction of Edinburgh and Glasgow. A large log burner sits in the centre of the room with two large sofas and coffee table. This space allows people to switch off from the outside world, no television or Wi-Fi can be found in this mountain retreat, although 5G network can be picked up easily.
After a long day exploring the mountains and glens this is the perfect room where you can put your feet up in warmth and comfort. The perfect room to relax in with a good book or challenge yourself with a puzzle or game.
The house faces South with both bedrooms having lovely South facing far reaching views. The master bedroom has a comfortable super king bed with french sliding doors which access out onto the south facing terrace, this provides a lovely light sunny room.
The second bedroom has two single beds with a walk in wardrobe. This room also enjoys good views and the beds have been positioned carefully to maximise on enjoyment of these views while in bed.
A further door is accessible into the garden on the South side which provides another access into the garden.
* We do allow dogs at our house by prior arrangement only. An extra fee of £30 for a dog is payable on arrival or departure. If travelling with two dogs we cap the dog fee at a total of £50. We kindly ask that you don’t allow dogs into the bedrooms and make sure you clear up after them in the garden.
The cottage is positioned in a very unique spot. High in the Glen which enables fabulous views across the valley, hills and Castle Campbell which is peacefully nestled below. The castle & gardens are only open to the public for the summer months but when they are they are a wonderful attraction to explore and enjoy.
Private parking in the garden can be utilised, however two gates would need to be opened and closed on all comings and goings. There is a car park below the cottage which can be used for those that wish not to take their car up the hill a little further and through the gates. Four wheeled vehicles would have no problem with accessing the garden car park, however a small car or driver with less confidence may struggle. I personally access the garden car park regularly with a Peugeot estate car using two wheel drive mode, if wet and slippy I pop it into four wheeled drive mode, however it is not essential. Walking from the car park to the house is roughly 50metres and allows for easy parking.
*ARRIVING BY NIGHT - Please be aware that if arriving after dark there are no street lights and the road is not lit to the cottage. The stars however are wonderful!
Guest access
Guests have full use of the bungalow and garden during their stay.
