Annascaul, Kerry, Ireland

Anascaul is the birthplace & resting place of Tom Crean -one of the worlds unsung heroes in Antarctic exploration . Our local pub is the SouthPole which is laden with memorabilia of Tom and his expeditions. And this area is for people who love the outdoors and all there is to absorb in the hills here. Jerome Connor , the enigmatic world renowned sculptor was born fields away....some of his work has been bequeathed to the South Pole for viewing . For those interested in such things , there are Bronze age standing stones in the field behind the cottage -dated from -1200BC, which exude their own magnetism .
