In the Northern Catskills, The DeWitt Oak Hill is a restored 1865 inn on the banks of the Catskill Creek, just 2.5 hours from NYC, and minutes from Hudson and the slopes. Listed on the National Register, the DeWitt is a blend of vintage and modern.

The space

The DeWitt is an eclectic mix of vintage and modern, with an ever-changing collection of furnishings—which are all for sale.

Welcome drinks upon arrival.

A full gourmet, locally resourced farm to table breakfast is served each morning.

Room 46 is inspired by the town in which it lives, Oak Hill. Branches from trees in the garden reach up to the ceiling, creating a backdrop for the queen-sized bed. A tree stump acts as a side table, and art from times gone by, as well as new paintings, decorate the walls. The room overlooks the Catskill Creek just a few yards away. The bathroom is classic white subway-tile with black accents and vintage accessories; the shower has a luxury rain shower. We feature only locally-made vegetable soaps and cruelty-free shampoo and conditioners.

Guest access

Guests have access to a two-story great room, which has a beautiful Hollywood Regency curved velvet sofa, a baby grand piano, a flat screen TV and a retro record player—complete with our record selection. There is a library in the upstairs gallery if you would like a little quiet time. We are right on the Catskill Creek. Our garden has multiple seating areas and fireplaces as well as creek access to cool off your toes, sunbathe or read a book laying on one of the huge rocks as the water flows past you. The indoor dining area is the primary space for communal breakfast. Guests can also take their breakfast out to the garden dining area if preferred.

Interaction with guests

The host will be (discreetly) on premises to offer recommendations and to assist as needed.

Other things to note

The DeWitt Oak Hill is a living, breathing vintage shop. Everything you are surrounded by is available for purchase—either in-house or online after you return home. Each sleeping room is curated by individual taste-maker friends of ours and will subtly change as time goes on (and furnishings are sold!). The upstairs gallery exhibits the work of local artists, and the wares of local purveyors will be featured around the entire space, all of which will be for sale and will benefit said artists.

Meals can be arranged for a variety of prices. Please check with us for sample menus.

We had a wonderful stay at the DeWitt. Deborah and Dorothy could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The house itself was absolutely charming, and the home-made three course breakfast was incredible. One thing to note is that this b&b is in a VERY small town and you have to drive at least 20+ minutes to find places to eat, shop, etc. We didn't mind the drive at all, especially because our experience here was so fantastic. We can't wait to come back for another visit. We would highly recommend!

Our stay with D&D was such a wonderful and warm experience. They are both such welcoming and fun hosts. The house is stunning. Beautifully appointed with all manner of antiques combined with modern touches and amenities. The bed was super comfortable. The bedroom and bath both spacious and well appointed. They really have created this whole world that you can step into that is inviting, charming and supremely relaxing. We ended up lost in conversation for hours in their salon room. Then there is their food! They cooked the most delicious breakfast for us. We loved our time with D&D and hope to be back soon.

I had a wonderful stay at The Dewitt!! It is a beautiful place, and Diane and Dorothee made me feel so welcome and comfortable, and their cooking is also excellent! Their taste is amazing and the vintage hotel is worth a visit all on its own. I'm greatly looking forward to returning next year!

We loved our stay at the DeWitt! It is a beautiful historic property in the Catskills done up with style and grace, including all the modern amenities you need for a getaway. We own property nearby which is under construction so we needed a place to stay with our visiting young nephew and were very glad that the DeWitt was open and available. Our nephew was so excited to sleep in a dreamy bedroom with a bedboard made of real trees (!), a super comfy bed and the babbling creek right outside the window. Our hosts, Dororthee and Diane, were lovely, gracious and generous and did everything they could to make us all feel welcome and comfortable. They put together a gorgeous and elegant spread for breakfast and were very kind to accommodate my vegetarian/gluten-free diet. We walked in the creek out back to cool off and sat in the backyard enjoying the landscape. We felt very welcome and at home. The whole experience was wonderful and we can't wait to return!

Hi! We are Diane and Dorothee. Two friends with a shared love of vintage furnishings and old homes. We've combined that love through our new guest-house called The DeWitt, Oak Hill—a former hotel built in 1865. We have restored the hotel into a sleeping and event space. All of …
